Baldur's Gate II Turns 20 [Sep 21, 2020, 10:20 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the launch
of Baldur's Gate II, BioWare's D&D Forgotten Realms RPG sequel. To
celebrate, the game is
on sale on GOG.com for 50% off. A bunch of other RPGs are likewise
discounted, including Divinity: Original Sin 2, Pillars of Eternity, Neverwinter
Nights, and Icewind Dale 2. GOG.com also offers a
Baldur’s Gate II Retrospective.

Baldur's Gate 2 is one of my all time favorite games, across all genres. I'm almost done with my latest BG1EE playthrough, BG2EE is already installed and modded up, ready to go with my imported character. I keep getting drawn back, in between super AAA 3D eye candy, to that 2d (although BGEE versions technically have 3D models now) party based RPG. I loved Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2, NWN, Icewind Dale series, Planes of Torment, Tides of Numenaria, Wasteland 2 reboot, etc. etc. but I have probably done about 6-7 complete playthroughs of BG2, vanilla and with mods, and probably had a half dozen more started but interrupted by HD death or computer wipes/upgrades, or other mishaps.
BG2 was also my first introduction to the D&D/AD&D style ruleset, I'm somewhat ashamed to say.
