Out of the Blue

Ducks are quick learners. As rapidly as they grew accustomed to me treating them to some oatmeal, once I stopped responding to them every time they tapped on my door it took almost no time for them to stop doing it. I still want to be able to hang out with them a bit. I think I will experiment with going out there when they aren't in the vicinity and calling them over and see how that works out.

Based upon my folks' place, ducks love something with water in even if it's like a foot or 2 across. They have a plant pot shaped like the bottom of a barrel, and with some rainwater in it the ducks managed to find and play in it even though it's 500m from their pond over a road and a garden fence.

Ducks are selfish creatures, but man are they cute. Especially the younglings.

6 feet may not always be enough distance to protect from COVID-19, new report suggests.

Yeah, we knew six months ago that people could project water droplets from their mouth 18' and that the virus hung around indoors for up to three hours. I never thought that six feet was perfect, just a reasonable compromise to allow people to go shopping or whatnot.

That said, my office really pissed me off. We had a bunch of people who couldn't work from home due to hardware restrictions. So we IS people worked from home and half the seventh floor moved to our fifth floor and both floors sat every other desk. The rule was, masks while walking around but no need at your desk. I knew it wouldn't end well, 100 people on each floor with no masks just six feet away from each other for 8 hours a day. It was fine the first few months as my state held steady at just 600 cases. But cases started exploding a few weeks ago, and sure enough within one week we had 50 people infected in the office. Entirely foreseeable, entirely preventable by setting people up at home during the lull. So frustrating. Here's the kicker: I work at a damn healthcare company.
I wish I could say that is unbelievable, but alas, I cannot.

Just bought a new TCL 1080p Smart LED Television (2019), 32" for the bedroom. It has Roku. I've never used it before. Is it any good?

Roku is a totally adequate streaming platform. They used to be neutral and have a ton of apps across the board which is great. Unfortunately they started their own streaming service so eventually you might see some some of them peel off if the content owners get pissy about it. Anyways you get Plex, Netflix, Hulu and all of the sports apps which is all most people need. I prefer Android TV platforms like the Shield TV but Roku is totally fine and much better than other "Smart TV" platforms. Most of the cheaper brands now pack in Roku or Android TV instead of rolling their own. LG unfortunately is sticking with WebOS but hopefully down the road they give it up.

Easy explanation for shrimp prices, there's a sucker born every minute + artificial/amplified scarcity.

Blue, you have been programmed by the ducks to give them oatmeal. They've also laid the groundwork for future treats.
