Bethesda Launcher
as part of Bethesda's and id Software's
thank you
to those who helped them raise more than $30,000 for charity during QuakeCon.
The first-person shooter sequel will be free to keep as long as you pick up your
copy between now and Saturday at noon EDT. Then on Monday they will complete
their giveaway by offering Quake III Arena for free for 72 hours.

It's not free if we're forced to use a launcher we don't want to use.
Not only forced to use your launcher, but to jump through all the hoops in that process, and forced to attach ourselves, as an account, to your database of accounts.
I hope I can download, copy the game datas, and use third party binaries to play the games on any computer and OS.
