Out of the Blue

Boing Boing notes a reissued version of the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle is now available. They call this "the greatest toy ever made." This is pretty accurate from my point of view, as the motorcycle actually ran upright thanks to its gyroscopic design. This allows you to perform authentic Evel Knievel-style jumps, complete with authentically catastrophic landings. I actually have a previously reissued version of this toy from a few years back, but this one is considerably more authentic. I'm not sure I need to pick this up, as I already have enough toys and other dust collectors, but looking at the unboxing and demo video was a nice trip down memory lane.

Yeah, they skipped the 3 month mass safety testing most vaccines get. That's pretty risky. If it turns up lots of side effects, then you're handing the anti-vaxxers an unnecessary victory and undermining the strong safety record vaccines currently enjoy.

Great pick. I've been watching the West Wing (awesome show BTW).
Aaron Sorkin, king of dialogue. Several times I have been watching a movie and thought, "Damn, there is some great dialogue in this movie". Each time it was Aaron Sorkin.

Yeah, the dialog is so awesome. Just finished S3 though, and Sorkin departs the show then, so we'll see how it holds up after that. I tried Sorkin's Newsroom, and just bounced off though. I think the characters were just unlikable.

early seasons were some of the greatest political drama in tv history. later seasons... not so much, particularly went down hill after rob lowe left. which is not to say it ever got bad, just... went nowhere for 3 or so seasons. focused too much on interpersonal office drama instead of the grandeur of running the greatest country on earth. would somewhat salvage 2020 if out of nowhere they revived the show with sam seaborn running for president like bartlett predicted, josh as his chief of staff.

That would be awesome, but they'd need Sorkin. I just watched the first two Eps of S4, and they are *really* missing his writing talents. The dialog is just flat and on the nose. Not sure I'll continue watching or not.

If Sorkin pens it, sign me up.

Alert the Q- Anon morons.
Thar be conspiracy up ahead arrrr
Kanye West’s presidential campaign appears to have hit a bit of a snag after his ballot papers were filed in Wisconsin some 14 seconds after the deadline. West’s campaign lawyer had a variety of reasons he thought this shouldn’t matter, including suggesting that the iPhone clock is ‘notoriously faulty’ …

Newsroom is on my "I should try this" list, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I just re-signed up with Netflix a little over a month ago and it has pretty much been a waste of money as I have been buried in "Oxygen Not Included"... d'oh!

From The Verge:
It’s not clear what changed over the past few weeks to force Microsoft to delay Halo Infinite to 2021. The reception to the game has been mixed, though, with some criticizing the graphics and visuals in the game. 343 Industries responded to the criticisms, admitting that “we do have work to do to address some of these areas and raise the level of fidelity and overall presentation for the final game.”

With no clear Halo Infinite release date in sight, except a 2021 release, 343 Industries will now have plenty of time to avoid the typical game crunch and address fan feedback in the months ahead.

Well, that ruined the rest of my day. Fuckin' hell on a stick...

That leaves Cyberpunk 2077 and Dying Light's HellRaid as the only two games I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year. Bah! I'm taking my toys and going home and going to bed! Sigh

She was the obvious choice, and I'm glad he picked her: she's intelligent, charismatic, tough, and empathetic. Great pick. I've been watching the West Wing (awesome show BTW). When Pres Bartlett picks his VP for the second term, the VP candidate is surprised because b/c he thought he wasn't the best choice. Bartlett passes him a note as to why he's the best choice: "Because I might die." I feel the same here: if Biden were to die or become incapacitated (he is 78 after all), she could pick up the ball very competently.
