The 1.01 patch fixed the random frame drops for me. MUCH smoother now.

Hmm I also thought I noticed something very minimal, but then I went to the area with Miridian in the distance and I think my framerate hasn't dropped this low in 8 years....

1 minute before I had to go I lowered Reflections to Low in my last death throw of trying to fix this abominable framerate.
I gained almost 20 fps.

You seem to deliberately misinterpret his "point A to point B" argument. I mean, the game is LITERALLY a guy in delivery services.

Please expand on how I've misinterpreted: "If you consider going from point A to point B a game, then go for it." The plain interpretation of that is that going from point A to point B is boring, overly basic, and makes for a bad game.

Now I do understand that you were never taught the rules of logic or how to think precisely, as it does come across clearly. Ignorance however does not negate the value of doing a formal analysis of an argument to determine if its formally correct. And if I come across as an asshole, at least you are astute enough to recognize contempt and condescension when you are their deserved object.

There's no intellect to find in deliberate misinterpretation due to semantics. There's also no intellect to see in having misinterpreted it honestly -- just ignorance, as proven by you not having played the game perhaps, which is fair. Again, the game is about a guy delivering packages from point A to B. That's really all he does. I love the game because of it's atmosphere and story, but gameplay wise... yeah, it's delivering packages period.

Now don't get me wrong. It is very easy to see where you're coming from. In the end, every quest in any game really is your proverbial A and its completion your proverbial B. I got that. The guy who made the initial comment got that. You're being redundant and pretentious.

You still seem to be missing the point.

You made an implied universal argument: If a game is about going from point A to point B, then the game is bad.

The disproof of a universal argument is a counterexample, e.g. All birds fly. An emu is a bird, and it does not fly. Therefore, the statement all birds fly is false.

Informally, you argued: "if a game is about going from point A to point B, then the game is bad." I responded, "racing and flight sims are about going from point a to point B", with the implication that racing and flight sims are not inherently bad. Therefore, a game cannot be bad because it is about going from point A to point B, i.e. your original statement was false.

Formally, let x be a game, G be the set of games, P be the proposition "is about going from point a to point b" and Q be the proposition "is a bad game". Then,
∀ x ∊ G, P(x) → Q(x).
∃ y ∊ G, P(y) ∧ ~Q(x).
Therefore, P(x) does not imply Q(x).

Do you understand the logic here? I proposed a counterexample to your universal statement. Since you seem to accept the premise that racing games and flight sims are not inherently bad, you must also accept that it is a false statement to say that a game is bad because it is about going from point A to point B.

Now you may be correct that Death Stranding is still a bad game for other reasons (e.g. arcadey pizza delivery), but that's not the argument you originally put forth and it's not what I was addressing prior to your attempt to move the goalposts.

Also, I haven't played Death Stranding long enough to form an opinion about it. It seemed interesting enough after an hour, but I wasn't hooked enough to justify sinking 40 hours into it, or however long it is, when I have more pressing priorities and interests.

Let me guess, nobody talks to you during birthday parties or other family events? You seem to deliberately misinterpret his "point A to point B" argument. I mean, the game is LITERALLY a guy in delivery services. You then lose yourself in a fit of unnecessary smart-assery. Wtf dude?

Not sure if Beamer caught up on that as well and doubled down by trolling or if he was serious.

Now you are just trolling me, your priorities and interests are obviously not important or pressing enough if you are using mathematical logic to try and disprove what is clearly my opinion.

So now your argument is that what you say isn't worth taking seriously? I can agree with that.

Also, go play a civil flight sim sometime -- I hear Microsoft has something coming out next week: when flying, your primary moment to moment activity is making sure you're on course and heading in the right direction, i.e. getting yourself from point A to point B, which when relying on dead reckoning or radio navigation is a game in itself. Or conversely play a WWII era sim: actual aerial combat or ground attack typically occupies about ten minutes of a flight, with upwards of an hour on either end painstakingly navigating your way to the target area. For extra points, try a WWII Pacific theater sim, where you need to navigate across featureless ocean to find the enemy fleet, and then navigate back across featureless ocean to find your carrier.

Yeah a game that is as shallow as to make going from point A) to B) its MAIN gameplay loop is obviously bad. This is my opinion. Also your logic is flawed, because this is NOT the primary gameplay draw of simulators, no matter how you try to spin it. Go play it, instead of arguing semantics here with me and you will see what I mean.

Aren't nearly all games about going from point a to point b?

Take Oblivion. You go from point A, jail, to point B, the throne.

You're either shifting the goalposts in keeping with your antagonistic demeanor or not very good at following a verbal argument. I lean towards the former but don't discount the latter.

In racing games and flight sims, going from point A to point B is the primary game action. You made a statement dismissing a game because its primary activity was going from point A to point B, as if that alone made it a bad game. I raised counterexamples, racing games and flight sims, where, far from making them bad games, going from point A to point B is the whole point. This isn't a complicated argument and you should be able to follow it. But then you routinely make terribly thought out arguments that depend solely on hyberbole to make their point, so maybe I shouldn't expect that much from you.

This game deserves nothing BUT hyperbole, because that's how bad it is. As for your argument that because it's main gameplay loop also forms a part of what you do in driving or flying sims (and yet completely disregards all the other more important other parts in sims such as: racing, flight or driving physics, system fidelity etc.) is somehow an indicator of it's quality, well I believe I was pretty clear on what I think about that.

Take that how you will. You obviously like the game and somehow feel a need to justify it. That's all well and good, but my opinion is equally as valid as yours and I feel I needed to share it with other people so they can make up their own mind and hopefully avoid buying Death Stranding.

This strikes me as completely detached from reality: when have gamers ever cared about celebrity voice/MoCap actors? It doesn't affect gameplay and in most cases the celebrity actor in question phones their performance in, something which professional voice actors tend not to do. I can't think of a single instance among the core gaming audience where anyone was ever hyped because *insert well-known actor here* was voicing dialogue in a game.

If you consider going from point A to point B a game, then go for it.

Have you ever heard of this genre called Racing? Or Flight Simulation?

Worst game ever made, huh? An original, superbly designed game with impeccable sound design, using the same engine as HZD, yet is fully optimized, has DLSS, the sky isn't all funked up and the textures are so much more crisp than HZD. Add into that innovations in movement, even the vehicles can get around the most inhospitable landscapes ever put to an open world game and brilliant asynchronous multiplayer elements. Walking across water in HZD is laughable after how DS handled it. But, somehow it is the worst game ever. Yeah, right, lolz! I'm going to boot up this AC Odyssey 1.5 right now and keep laughing. Amurica what have ya done to these peeps, why don't they get it?

Lol dude. Where is the gameplay? What IS the gameplay loop? Its boring, derrivative barely comprehensible HIPSTER horseshit that has less going on than No Man's Sky had at launch. It's an interactive movie (and a terribly boring and shit one at that) that barely passes for an over-hyped "game". It's only popular because it stars B list hollywood actors, has great production values and is made by the fucking Andy Warhol of gaming. Kojima sucks balls. He even said that he doesnt know what Death Stranding is about. And people are lapping that shit up like its cocain mixed with cool-aid. Jesus H. Christ. If you consider going from point A to point B a game, then go for it. Get your kicks. If you have two braincells in your head, then avoid Death Stranding like its the plague.
