Epic Raises $1.78B

Epic Games has reportedly raised $1.78 billion in its latest round of financing. This figure is said to include the $250 million investment from Sony that was reported last month:
Epic Games today announced a $1.78 billion round of funding consisting of primary capital and secondary purchases from employee equity holders. Epic's post-money equity valuation is now $17.3 billion.

This round includes a previously announced $250 million strategic investment from Sony Corporation. Additional investment partners include Baillie Gifford, funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, Fidelity Management & Research Company LLC, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and David Tepper. Existing investors KKR and Smash Ventures also added to their 2018 investment. Following the closing of the funding round Epic will continue to have only a single class of common stock outstanding and will remain controlled by its founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney.

“Having the support of leaders in the financial community accelerates Epic’s efforts to build a new kind of digital ecosystem using real-time 3D technology, services that connect hundreds of millions of people, and a digital storefront that offers a fair business model. We are delighted to have them as part of the Epic family,” said Sweeney.

Credit Suisse and The Raine Group acted as joint placement agents to Epic, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati provided legal counsel to Epic.

While you live in the CNN world that completely ignored Biden's racist comments yesterday where even the WaPo and the NYT covered it.

No one here watches CNN. No one watches CNN at all. Look at the ratings. Liberals don't typically get their news in video format, nor from opinion-based cable news.

Meanwhile, I'm confused as to how you think he's ignoring it, as there's been no obvious topic to discuss this, nor do you follow NKD around off of Blue's (I don't think.) But it's entertaining that Trump fans (which are very different than conservatives) are suddenly so obsessed with racism. We only have two choices for president, and I'd prefer the old white guy that is racist out of ignorance, has one credible sexual assault allegation, could possibly destroy the country, and is in early on-set dementia, to the old white guy that is overtly and intentionally racist, has over 25 credible sexual assault allegations, has utterly destroyed this country, and is in early on-set dementia.

And who are you? You have 6 posts here, all of which are political outrage. Are you a second account, or just someone that only posts when his feelings are hurt?

Wish the best to Epic, putting good and bad together, seems to me the sum total of it's drive is positively transformative.

And to metamorphose every aspect of reality to evil and dumb machinations, so askew and deranged.
Is demential and scary.

About making look bad. I think that Trump rode the good economy that Obama managed to leave *even with Republicans hamstringing him all the way* after fixing the chaos of Bush disastrous presidency.
And even Trump idiocies couldn't sink the economy, not that in his superb ignorance he didn't try.
Sure, he didn't help at all, but Covid is the real culprit.

Cite the specific actions that President Obama did to improve the economy. You can't, just like you can't cite any examples of positive actions that Joe Biden has performed for the country over 40+ years.

I don't have a problem with Epic at all. The market is soaring like a flight of Eagles despite everything that some politically motivated boneheads have done to try and sink the markets (if not the economy) in their idiotic desire to try and make the current Presidential administration look bad in an election year...;) Yawn...When they lose--America wins! There are lots and lots of winners in the markets these days. By Jove, that's the way it should be! Epic is soaring along with the broader markets, and it's a good thing to see. I think the only complaint on Epic that seems sincere from certain quarters is that Sweeney has sold a bit too much of it to foreign sources, but I don't have a problem with that. Company ownership percentages change erratically--much like the end of the world predictions from the global warming cults or Fauci's death-toll predictions on Covid-19...;) Good job, Epic!
It is well known universally that I do not make mistakes--so, if you should happen across an error in that which I have written, please be assured that *I* did not write it!...:)

They didn't bring 1.78B in funding in 2018 when Fortnite, Unreal Engine, and video game sales brought in over a combined 3 billion. Par for the course. Epic is too invested in its store to back away from it. However, the store is very dependent on Fortnite's success plus the store's business model, and it's not working. It collapses if either falters. The questions investors should be asking is how much money did Epic spend to secure a 15% market share with no chance of ever gaining more ground, and was that a good use of their investment?

Crap, $1.78B buys a lot of freebies.
