I've never owned a laptop, but it does look like a great package. Atm, I'm just looking for something moderately powered like Ryzen 7 3700X, Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus, WD_Black SN750 1TB (with win 10, since I'm being forced to play HZD), Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200, LG 27GL83A-B 27 and still working on a PS. So at about $1200 and wouldn't mind getting it down below $1000. Hah, just realized that's a stimulus check. Well at least I'm spending it for something important! (self slap)

1. Nvidia has supposedly quit producing the 2000 series parts. Existing stock will not decrease in price much, if any. There will always be discounts on used, "refurbished" and b-stock.
2. 3000 series will be priced just as ridiculously high as the 2000 series was at release.
The market has proven that price is not a factor.

It's my understanding that @Acleacius is looking to save a buck and is not worried about the bleeding edge and related first adopter CO$T$.

I guess Blue will call his next update "Righteous Outrage About The Outage"!

The thing I dislike most about preorders that need to decrypt and unpack is that whatever application they are using is single threaded. Doesn't matter the platform from my experience.

We are in the era of where most people, at minimum, have a quad core. June 2020 Steam Hardware Survey statistics say that 4C/8T and 16GB are the average. I have an 8C/16T CPU in my system. Use it! Stop writing software like your baseline is a 286 with 1MB of memory and no FPU writing to a low density 5.25 floppy!

I decrypted a file that was 4.12TB in size two days ago in under six minutes on my personal server because it was using multiple threads and a good portion of system memory. It was initially encrypted using AES-256. No game publisher in the world is using an encryption algorithm that strong. It shouldn't take an hour to decrypt a goddamned game. While I am bitching about it, stop encrypting the whole fucking thing like you're passing state secrets. No one gives a shit about haxx0ring your art and audio files. Encrypt your libraries, configs, and binaries. If, for some reason, you're trying to prevent a D-0 release, encrypting your audio and art files isn't going to aid in that. Also, if by chance, you think making the encrypted file larger in any way helps...it doesn't. The size of the file is irrelevant. The key strength is what matters most. a 70GB file encrypted with DES or RSA is going to take me much less time to decrypt than an AES encrypted file.

Just got my GMG key for Horizon zero dawn and it's letting me preload.
This time I'm putting the release on my NVME SSD, so hopefully when it unlocks it doesn't take a bunch of hours to decrypt like death stranding. If this doesn't make the decrypt faster, then I'll just be waiting to download until it actually unlocks on my next purchase since that seems like it would be faster.

Also, thinking about streaming my play on twitch just for fun, since I have a modern gaming PC after a number of years with an old one. So I'm looking up that stuff. I have a lifetime license for xsplit, so...

At least you'll know the time it takes to unzip, unpack and unencrypt won't be due to storage.
I bet you're still gonna be waiting an hour or more for the 70 gig preload to sort itself out.

I actually like the flick despite some glaring technical stupidities. But as I usually do, I practice "suspension of disbelief" when watching movies. I wouldn't call it a great film, but it is well worth seeing at least once.
