A new
Games and Online Harassment Hotline
is now online, a brainchild of Feminist Frequency founder Anita Sarkeesian,
herself a lightning rod for online harassment. There's an interview with
Sarkeesian
on VentureBeat discussing the new project. Here's a bit on this nonprofit
organization from the
Feminist Frequency Website:
We’re so excited to announce that the
Games and Online Harassment Hotline is
officially launching on August 3, 2020. The Hotline is a brand new, free,
confidential, emotional support resource for people who make and play games. As
we’ve seen over the last month (and beyond), our communities are in desperate
need of more tools and resources to support folks who are struggling. Whether
it’s abuse, burnout, depression, or anything else, we are here for you..
Starting on August 3rd, you can text SUPPORT to 23368 from anywhere in the USA.
You can send messages at any time; we are active and replying from 4PM-7PM PT,
Monday-Friday. After you answer a few quick automated questions, one of our
trained agents will respond and talk to you about what you’re experiencing.
