The politically inexperienced among us can't recognize a mother of all dog and pony shows here.

Everyone in those hearing rooms is in one way or the other is bought and paid for the the tech oligarchs. This is about them trying to sooth their own egos and deny any responsibility or guilt while they worship their bottom lines.

Facebook earned $5 billion this quarter, almost double same quarter last year. So much for all that time spent on the big corporate boycott the SPLC and other anti-hate "authority" groups organized. The end result was the participating companies losing some new impressions in their markets. LOL

I thought most of the congress people asked very smart informed questions...
... but then of course there was Matt Gaetz: "Do you think Ben Carson is an extremist?" and Jim Jordan: "Drew Brees got bullied. Do you think that's okay? I thought we had freedom of speech."
Dang,
I was hoping for another gotcha moment where an astute congress critter like Rep. Steve King would ask Google's Pichai to explain why his daughter’s iPhone was acting strangely.

Half lies, strawmans, reframing, not really answering the question, selective sharing, production bias.

Same century old propaganda tricks.

Facebook shouldn't become 'arbiters of truth' -Zuckerberg.
Of course not, but that's also different from removing/restricting content that's patently false, and which in many circumstances has very real harmful effects.
