The problem is any game that requires very fast feedback and/or is multiplayer seems to be totally dependent not on the service, but the quality of service from you ISP and the DNS routing employed.

Input latency will always be terrible with game streaming over the internet. It's unavoidable. When you press your mouse button to fire on a PC at home, the reaction is <10-20ms But when you do it over the internet, even with the best possible fibre connection, it'll be in >100ms but more likely 200ms. That's just awful. There's no way to overcome this until they invent quantum entanglement. It's a physical limit.

Seems like it's doable for all but the most reaction-based games. It will create a new version of the "high ping bastard" as people with high throughput near the server farm will have better response times than those further out with slower connections. Remember, these same arguments were put out there for multiplayer gaming over the internet vs. LAN gaming, and they figured them out.

Hopefully Stadia and other streaming services like it that will come after, will die quick deaths. It is anti-consumer and especially in the US, a complete joke with the shit internet service most of the country suffers from, cable or even just satellite, with bandwidth caps.

I am morbidly interested to see how it fares in countries with better infrastructure and functional gigabit fiber or better to most homes though. Hopefully people are wise enough there to not get involved with Stadia, but it could happen.

As far as Orcs 3, if it comes to regular platforms at some point, I'll check it out. If it stays exclusive, I hope that company goes out of business and their game fails.

I am using GeForce Now and it works perfectly fine for single player games. The problem is any game that requires very fast feedback and/or is multiplayer seems to be totally dependent not on the service, but the quality of service from you ISP and the DNS routing employed.

I abhor where game publishers really want to go with this but, highly doubt they have the acumen to lobby in the US to bring internet infrastructure up to snuff, so thankfully this won't be replacing multiplayer games and racing and flying games any time soon.

And streaming video too! What a waste of bandwidth! It’s why I only have VHS and the occasional DVD.

Removing physical media is a good thing, games have already done this, streaming game images with terrible input lag is not an improvement for gamers :-)

I didn't know that but I'm not surprised. Unchained didn't seem all that engaging and it didn't appear successful to me and it appears their non-orcs games were mobile games. Hmm. I hope Orcs3 revives them, and stick to less experimental/me-too games.

I'm not, I think they should stay to tried-and-true to get back on their feet. The only thing I hope for is a map editor (but my guess is they won't include that either).

I don't have a lot of faith in Stadia as a platform or service, but I'm definitely looking forward to Orcs Must Die! 3. I liked the first game and LOVED the second game.
I just hope that map editing becomes a feature in the 3rd game, it's been requested eversince the series started--I don't even care if the player maps are up to par in visual quality with the core maps, it would just be nice to have as an option.

It also only exists because of Stadia, too. 1 and 2 were among my favorite games. Never even bothered with Unchained, like so many fans. Seems they wanted something bigger and with more consistent revenue, but alienated everyone.

I'm not a huge fan of Stadia (mostly, too pricey and too ahead of it's time). But give it a few years and I can see where technology will catch up and this'll work just fine. The only question is will it be a couple years or many more years before technology makes this effectively seemless?

Same. Unchained was ok, but so glad they are going back to the original formula. My only wish is for more than 2 person PvE (I played unchained with a couple of my buddies).

I bet execs who think the internet is a hive of scum and pirates just waiting to DL illegal copies of their game think that game streaming is a good idea. It actually solves a lot of online multiplayer cheating. Note that none of this means I'm a fan of games moving in this direction, but I see the appeal for publishers, even if we're still a decade off from viability.
