PC DEATH STRANDING Released

DEATH STRANDING is no longer stranded on PlayStation 4, as the Windows edition of this action game from Kojima Productions is now available on the Epic Games Store and Steam. Neither site features a launch discount, but if you don't want to pay bust-out retail, Green Man Gaming offers Steam keys for 20% off (Blue's News may receive a commission). Here's the previously released PC Launch Trailer and here's an article from NVIDIA on GeForce features in the PC edition. Here's the announcement:
Hideo Kojima’s DEATH STRANDING, critically-acclaimed and genre-defying epic from KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, is available today at retail stores and digitally on Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC with a base price of £54.99.

Published worldwide by 505 Games, DEATH STRANDING for PC premieres today with newly supported features and playable content exclusively available to players on PC, including ultra-wide display support, high framerate, advanced tech from NVIDIA and an exciting in-game crossover collaboration with Valve’s popular Half-Life and Portal series of games.

Selected by the British Games Academy as winner of the Technical Achievement award at the 2020 BAFTA® Games Awards, DEATH STRANDING for PC debuts with new advanced tech features including NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 technology, a deep learning neural network powered by RTX Tensor Cores that boosts frame rates and generates beautiful, sharp images. With DLSS 2.0 enabled, gamers can achieve 100+ FPS at 1440p or a smooth 60+ FPS at 4K on all NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs. DEATH STRANDING is also playable on NVIDIA’s open cloud-gaming service GeForce NOW — giving gamers instant access to GeForce PC performance, on nearly any PC, Mac, SHIELD TV or Android device, without any downloads.

“Our partners at KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS have developed one of the most unique and visually supreme cinematic game experiences of all time,” 505 Games president Neil Ralley said. “We couldn’t be more excited to share DEATH STRANDING with more players around the world, enhanced for PC and featuring all-new playable content which is sure to impress.”

In addition to the base game, PC players who purchase 505 Games’ offering will also receive a selection from “The Art of DEATH STRANDING” digital book by Titan Books, the DEATH STRANDING Original Score Expanded Edition digital soundtrack – which contains the award-winning Sony Music published score by Ludvig Forssell as well as unreleased bonus tracks – and additional in-game cosmetic items such as a Chiral Gold and Omnireflector colored Bridges Cap and Ludens Mask sunglasses, a Gold and Silver Armor Plate and Gold and Silver Power, Speed and All-Terrain Skeletons.

The physical edition of DEATH STRANDING, which retails for £54.99, comes with all the same content as well as a limited-run Steelbook slip case and new Steelbook artwork. For a limited time, gamers will receive a PC Digital Download edition of DEATH STRANDING with the purchase of an eligible GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 2080 SUPER, 2080, 2070 SUPER, 2070, 2060 SUPER or 2060 GPU-equipped graphics card, laptop or desktop.

Finished this game on the PS4. The package delivery is just a mechanism to get you involved with the story, and can lead to all the sub-quests to building up the infrastructure of America. It's a shame you can't really show more without having spoilers. the protagonist just wants to be left alone to his own devices but the f'ed up world will not let him. The game is quite an experience, and the story is super sci-fi. Best game ever? No. However, I'm glad I played it and it was an awesome experience.

Thanks for using the comment board as it was meant to be.

Tried to enjoy other games tonight but couldn't. Kept thinking "would I love Death Stranding?".

Bought it late tonight. "Played" 1,5 hours but played about 20 minutes of it. Lonnnng cutscenes. Very unique and creative setting and story. Gameplay is weird but so far rather intoxicating. The graphics and nature are beautiful, which makes it so relaxing to go from point A to B. Solid 100+fps on my 1070 Ti.

So far I'm loving this, no doubt about it.

Of all the threads I would've been fine with going off-topic, this wasn't the one I contributed to it as well and I am really enjoying this though, so take it all as tongue-in-cheek. You see, I just cannot decide whether to spend around 50 bucks and buy Death Stranding. This game really does have either lovers or haters, and I just cannot figure out which one I'll be...

A good mysterious and weird plot is often good enough for me. It's why I enjoyed CONTROL more than I should've. So maybe I answered my own question. I don't know...

My bad,

as for the "walking simulator", people hate things that are different when only looking at the superficial. I feel like I'll pick this up in 2 years on sale and probably enjoy it. I like weird things too..

I agree. Something low key with great graphics and a mystery are just what the doctor ordered after a long day at work when I'm low-energy. Will wait for a sale though.

You mean.. you guys aren't still posting on your pentium 200 mmx with 8 mb of SDram, 500 MB Hard Drive, Windows 95, Voodoo Rage 3D Card, with a 3.5" floppy while browsing this on Netscape?

I got here using netcrawler and Yahoo...
Fun fact: if I remember correctly, this is pretty close to the specs of the PC I was using when Winamp and MP3s started to become popular, and it wasn't enough processing power. I had to set Winamp to play at a fairly low bitrate to prevent the CPU from being pegged and causing audio skipping. That sounds crazy now.

I got this mixed up, When I played quakeworld, i purchased a Voodoo card then upgraded my system in 1997 to the system above when I started playing half-life with an ATI 3D Rage PRO.. I remember the system costing me like 3000$ back then and I worked for months to get the cash.
Used it all the way into everquest as well.

What I posted was their early stuff because that was the stuff that reminded me the most of playing Quake. Their later stuff was more innovative. But, it's one of those things ya know? Does it really sound like those bands? Is Death Stranding really just a walking simulator w/ cinematics? Both, have a lot of nuances of their own creativity.

Yeah, I mean - ICQ reminds me of Quake, blasting this crazy metal hardcore band Rorschach from New York who was way ahead of their time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e3gB39Y7Xo) and endless grapple hooks and telefrags.

Yes Quake/ICQ/Winamp that was an era for sure. About Rorschach being ahead of their time. Sounds like early metallica, slayer, megadeth etc from the early 80's, which was well before this, oh well.
