Ugh, lesson learned. Don't preload something with this big of a footprint. Takes FOREVER to unlock and unencrypt. Probably like 45 mins. And I have a pretty beefy new rig. It likely would have taken me less time to download it with my connection.
Wonder if it was the spinning drive I put it on or what.

May as well have stored it on tape...

I thought his "story" in MGSPV was an absolute train wreck, but his fanboys still praised it.

Uhhh no we didn't. The plot straight-up ended because they ran out of development time.

The game was tremendously fun, though.

I guess he brand of fantasy/sci-fi/horror is not for me.

To me is as if one person took a card deck of fantasy/sci-fi/horror memes, shuffled them, the dealt out 8 cards from which they hastily concocted a "story" around them, and then whispered it to the person sitting next to them, who then did the same around a table till it got to the last person and they would then tell evey one the resulting story.

I have yet to see a preview or a review that describes any kind of game play that interests me for this latest effort of his.

I feel like, by now, most people should know if they like Kojima or not, right?
Personally, not my style, and the game looks terrible, but his work has never really been anything I've enjoyed. He's very distinct, and I feel like you get him or you don't, without huge middle ground.

It's the rare game I enjoyed but wouldn't recommend to anyone.

My problem is that EVERYTHING is political now. The execrable "Last Jedi" reviewed well not because it was a good movie (it absolutely wasn't) but because it hit the required political tone. Gaming rags are even worse (Just look at the reviews for "Last of Us 2"). I dont know if I trust ANY review site anymore. Did it receive a good review because it's a good game? Or did it receive them because it played the right cards on issues I have no interest in?

If it is mixed just for its weirdness, I can handle that. I mean, it's Kojima.

You're fully through the rabbit hole if you think the reason that film critics liked SW8 was because of political reasons.

Yeah, the political stuff was like 60 seconds of the entire movie. I enjoyed TLJ, but it's a deeply flawed movie, mostly due to how the plot is structured. I enjoyed Rian Johnson's other movies quite a bit, so I hope he can still pen his own trilogy without having to use JJ's pablum as a starting point.

I've watched quite a bit on this and while the delivery of stuff seems interesting, mechanically it seems more than a bit tedious.

Well, you're fully through the rabbit hole if you think the reason that film critics liked SW8 wasn't. It was an awful movie by any measure. And it was an even worse Star Wars movie...

Death Stranding PC uses Denuvo DRM, according to this.

Also, 'partial controller support' and apparently not the greatest mouse/keyboard translation. No word on whether or not Steam controllers work fully with Death Stranding so far either.

I guess I'll wait a few months at least, before I pick this up.

I couldn't imagine playing this with kb/m

Why?
Because of typical Japanese storyline and dialogue weirdness?

The story telling is weird but fine, the walking/building asynchronous online parts are great, but there are weird boss fights that pull you out of the game and the finale drags on and is mostly on-the-rails boss fights. The meat of the game is great.

That being said you are either going to love the walking/building stuff or you aren't. Also I played the game 4 months after release so I had a ton of other peoples buildings in my game. I'm going to assume online for PC will be seperate from PS4 so for the first few weeks the game will be harder without others buildings out in the world.

So you have the walking/building/travel simulator part, then you have the poltergeist/ghost's/giant tar squid part. The story is ALL over the place from the lone wanderer(?), different realms of reality/dimensions, after life/immortality and babies with psychic powers. Did I miss anything?

BTW the game is fucking bizarre on so many levels, some good, some bad. If possible I would suggest to find a way to play it on a console before you purchase it cause there is no way to get enough feel for what the game offers in the 2 hour return window.
