Out of the Blue

I finally ran out of propane in our first tank yesterday. The first time I used it in the re-opened Manstovia was May 3rd, so that's 71 days on one fill-up. I had no idea propane was so much more economical than charcoal! I'm guessing I would have run through $100.00 worth of charcoal in the time I used $12.00 worth of gas. That's pretty crazy. The changeover to the spare tank was easy, and I didn't even ruin the hamburgers, so it all worked out very well.

Wow, are propane tank exchanges really $12 in your area? In my area it's nearly double that. Still much cheaper than charcoal, though.

That is the price at BJ's, so it includes a member's discount. It's not actually an exchange, it's a refill. They have a big tank at the side of the store where they fill them on the spot.

Saw a great comment where someone said they should change the name to reflect the reality of Washington DC and call themselves The Washington Grifters. "Redskins" always seemed to be more offensive than it was. I suppose its all in how you say it or take it. Poll after poll over the years showed most Natives really didn't care. If they were called the Whiteskins I wouldn't really care either. I'd just find it an immensely odd name for a sports team.

Someone posted this the other day: "Washington Redtails." A perfect mascot for the moment, and a kickass design with that P-51C.

They'll be fine as long as they don't got with "Red Scalpers"...

I agree. They should go with something unexpected. I seriously doubt they will. I believe there has already been a leak suggesting they want something which could be interpreted as either military forces or warring natives. But hey .. who knows?

Washington Lobbyists?
Washington Filibusters?
Considering the way they've been playing the last few years, my vote would be for the Washington Generals*.

They should stay away from anything pertaining to peoples/races regardless of intent. That sort of pandering would infuriate a lot of people, myself included. Just stick with the usual nouns for sports teams animals or historical tough guys - warriors, cowboys, etc. They'll probably go with Warriors which is bleh. I think they should go with Redhawks.

I've seen that suggestion in several places. It would be an excellent selection, but I wouldn't bet on it. My bet is on "Warriors"...

The "rich" calling for higher taxes rings pretty hollow IMO. They don't need higher taxes, they need to abolish tax loopholes. There is nothing stopping those people from not taxing advantage of those loopholes and paying more taxes than they do - which in most cases is next to nothing, if not nothing. And I wonder for those saying that how well they treat their employees at their own companies? Are they leading by example with a living wage and good benefits? Being environmentally friendly? etc.

Why not both? Close the loopholes, double the capital gains tax, and boost the minimum tax on income over $1M up to 50% regardless of loopholes. Done.

It can be pretty easy to influence a poll by using "careful" questioning. However, even if your assertion is correct and only a minority portion of Native Americans found it offensive does that mean it is okay to use? All the Native American based team names should go away.

Yeah, it was your standard coming-of-age teen comedy. I always liked it, and not just because she naked and smoking hot. I was 17 when it came out? I think I was really into the 50s at that point.
