why would u want amd? intel's better for gaming

This is kind of a general misleading statement.

If you mostly gaming with a top of the line ($1000+ USD) video card (like RTX 2080 series) in low resolution (1080P) to eliminate GPU bottleneck as much as possible, then the "Intel's better for gaming" mostly hold true. For most people who use GPU perform similarly to RTX2060 or lower, a same core count AMD Ryzen 3000/Intel 10th gen are pretty the same. You won't be tell the different in a blind test. Most games are GPU dependence, the more game details turn on and higher resolutions it is on, the more GPU dependence (GPU bottleneck) it is and the less same core count AMD/Intel CPU make a difference.

Of course some people like to build system for benchmark.

But only slightly, and only if you're not GPU limited. While AMD is kicking Intel's ass at pretty much everything else. I would wager that the number of people who use their system only for gaming is minimal. Plus, the AMD equivalents are cheaper, and thus a better value.

And all indications are that Zen 3 is going to surpass Intel in gaming as well.

I wish more review websites did VR performance analysis. Babeltech is the only one I know of that does it:

If a player wants to run maximum settings, then only a RTX 2080 Ti or perhaps a RTX 2080 Super will probably suffice for most games.

As for CPU, I only know the anecdotal user experiences reported on forums for the VR games I use, and Intel is preferred. Perhaps it's reckless of me, but it does present opportunities like this: Do you have any links to AMD vs Intel for VR performance comparison?

This
**The XT series CPUs simply smash the competing Intel products at the same price point.**

The gaming performance is still an Intel favoring workload, but if you are running over 1080p, this deviation can be lessened substantially.
I believe with the teething issues, and a UEFI update or two, these chips could fall into a place that will be an excellent fit for most any user.

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9529/amd-ryzen-3600xt-3800xt-and-3900xt-zen-2/index.html#section9

Worth considering, and if nothing else AMD put a cap to Intel laziness and overpricing.

Because many, if not all of us, have been GPU limited for years now. Intel is the bee's knees if you game at 1080p 240hz.

Techspot: These are technically new processors and you’ll want to know if they’re worth buying. But let's just stop right there to say, spoiler alert: they’re a big fat nothing-burger that you should avoid. Just buy the models we already had

Retailers and system builders love this kind of product release. They can upsell the igornant consumer to the "latest and greatest", or pitch the "great deal" of the previous model. Win/win for everyone but the consumer.

Didnt take AMD long to pull an Intel.

Not sure what all the back and forth is here, these benchmarks show this XT release is almost entirely pointless. AMD still represents mostly a better value (even though their motherboards are usually more than Intel), but Intel is still winning in gaming. Since I mostly game and don't care about waiting an extra couple seconds for something when it's not a realtime task, then Intel has an advantage. Hopefully Zen 3 closes the gap.

If you listen carefully you can hear Intel saying 'oh fuck' in the background.
No, thats me not being able to decide because Intel CPUs are crap right now, but AMD still has lots of compatibility issues and other things that just are bothering me too much, like high idle power usage.
It hurts to say, but Intel still has the much more polished product. Because simply they had much more time to polish it. Zen is still very young.
I guess I will wait another year in hopes that Intel finally figures out 10 nm or AMD fixes their issues.
Whats more likely? Funnily I think its Intel.

But yeah, methinks I'll be looking at building a Zen 3 rig for Xmas.
