this needs to go much deeper, they need to put a ban on any Chinese students coming into this country to steal education spots that should be four our kids. All they are doing, and there was a report on this. is coming here, learning and then taking it back to use against us in Cyber crimes and to keep under cutting us in all Economical and industrial areas. Plus, its also been reported that China wants to conquer the world and wants their military to be number one in the world, well that will not happen. If they ever come up against our Navy, will quickly learn why everyone fears the US Navy.

I wish I shared your confidence. Bronze age goat-herders with AK-47s fought the US military to a stalemate over the course of 20 fruitless years in Afghanistan. The RAND Corporation rates naval surface warfare near mainland China as being a Chinese advantage, and naval surface warfare farther from mainland China as being US-China parity. "China" fairly routinely kicks our ass in US military simulations of a conventional military conflict between the two powers. This was posted on Reddit, so take it with a grain of salt, but it comports to how Chinese firms behave in general, and how the Chinese government basically forces companies to assist in government spying with no recourse for refusing.

Guy Who Reverse-Engineered TikTok Reveals The Scary Things He Learned, Advises People To Stay Away From It

“TikTok might not meet the exact criteria to be called “Malware”, but it’s definitely nefarious and (in my humble opinion) outright evil,” Bangorlol said. “There’s a reason governments are banning it. Don’t use the app. Don’t let your children use it. Tell your friends to stop using it. It offers you nothing but a quick source of entertainment that you can get elsewhere without handing your data over to the Chinese government. You are directly putting yourself and those on your network (work and home) at risk.”

Also, if you don't know what the RAND Corporation is, it is safe to assume that you have no rational basis for judging military policy and readiness, and are just repeating slogans that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

War is asymmetric these days, so comparing fighting "goat herders" in Afghanistan has no relevance to 2 first world nuclear powers dukeing it out in a conventional war. American bravado that we would simply "kick their asses" is asinine as the collateral damage in such a war would be unconscionable, even if we are the far greater power.

- China is building naval vessels twice as fast as the US.
- Chinese subs track US carriers within torpedo range without being detected. That was 15 years ago. Chinese capabilities have only improved while our ASW capabilities have continued to atrophy.
- America's naval vessels aren't even designed to destroy enemy surface vessels any longer. The lack of any near peer rival for the past 30 years led to designs that focused on anti-missile and anti-aircraft threats instead of anti-ship. The US is playing catch up in this regard.
- The Chinese have developed unique weapons to neutralize the US carrier advantage, like their anti-ship ballistic missiles series. How effective these are against moving ships at sea is an open question, but they have hundreds of them in mobile launchers, making them very difficult to destroy before they launch (remember how poorly the US did against mobile Scud missiles back in the 90s).
- Analyses show the China can damage or sink US ships faster than we can fix or replace them. Our ability to build or fix ships is in a very poor state, as we've failed to invest in infrastructure.
- The USN has a major readiness issue, as demonstrated by the collisions of the McCain and Fitzgerald with slow moving tankers.
- Lastly, the US has lost nearly every recent simulated war game against China.

Can the Chinese invade the US, or defeat the USN in the middle of the Pacific? No, of course not. Can they invade their neighbors, or seize control of the South China Sea preventing trillions in shipping from passing through, and prevent the USA from doing anything about it? Seems like a "yes." And each passing year, they continue to improve and match the US through both IP theft and indigenous capability. The one thing China lacks is operational experience, so look for them to gain some using smaller conflicts with their neighbors.

Our big strength is our allies, but we've been undermining that for the past few years, making it more difficult to convince allies to come together to challenge China.

The naivety is amazing. They are required by law to send their data to the CCP. The CCP pretty much owns every corporation in China.

Well, you are making lots of assumptions that don't pan out in a real shooting war.

First of all, we have all the sensors needed (in the air, in space, and under the ocean) to track all enemy ships and submarines wherever they go on the planet, and in a shooting war those ships will be the very first things to die.

The main A2/AD victims will be the Chinese and the Russians in the opening days of war.

Secondly, all of our carrier strike groups have the world's densest network air and missile defenses deployed anywhere. As well as the world's densest and most effective ASW assets on, under, and above the sea, 24/7/365. Nothing else, including the grossly overhyped S-400, comes remotely close to an AEGIS umbrella.

You didn't read the articles I posted, did you. These aren't my assumptions, these are the conclusions of the Pentagon and the RAND corporation, among other experts. They've wargamed multiple scenarios many times (Taiwan, Balkans). And they usually lose.
- Our SEAD/DEAD capabilities are still the best in the world, but trying to do that from carriers only outside the range of the Chinese defenses is a logistical nightmare. We can't just sit 50 miles off the coast of China and pummel them, we have to do it from hundreds of miles away due to their current AShM and AShBM capabilities.
- Our fighters are too short-ranged to avoid refueling. The Chinese know this is a weakness and developed the long range heavy stealth fighter the J-20 and it's 150 mile range PL-15 and PL-21 missiles to shoot down tankers and AWACS.
- Our ASW capabilities are the best in the world, but a far cry from the razor's edge they were in the Cold War. Budget cuts and a lack of emphasis due to 20 years fighting terrorists in the ME have seriously degraded our abilities. Add to that AIP subs which are extremely quite, and wake homing torpedoes for which there is no defense, and you have the recipe for sunk ships.

This is the kind of fear-mongering, chest-beating bullshit that leads to war. You do realize that an all out war between two NUCLEAR powers is not in anyone's interest? No of course you don't, otherwise you wouldn't be spouting this drivel.

Typical.

Anyway. Foreign students in US universities pay up to three times higher tuition than domestic students, and typically aren't eligible for student aid or loans. Enrolling those moneybags means more funding for the universities to expand staff and programs to subsidize more domestic students. There was a report on this:

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0047272717301676

However, the right wing hates the US higher educational system, and sees it as little more than a breeding ground for liberals, or bait for feeding rapacious student loan collection agencies, and not so much a source of local STEM talent. Witness: the Trump administration canceling F-1 visas for international students attending universities that offering online-only classes in the fall. If their goal was to encourage higher domestic enrollment, then they'd pump money into these universities losing high-paying students to offset the sudden loss of tuition income. Of course, no such money is forthcoming. Conservatives don't want anyone, foreign or domestic, attending college, because that's how you get liberals. They don't see the US educational system as an asset in the global technological and economic race; instead we'll maintain dominance on the strength of coal miners, farmers and retirees.

It's very difficult for foreign nationals to come here for education or H1Bs.

So most of them have to work hard to prove themselves. They then get the same opportunities (and pay) as an American. They come here, they build a career, they build a life, and they build companies.

We're literally taking the best and brightest from other countries. These are their most valuable resources, and we have the means to attract them, bring them here, and make them Americans.

If we're truly America First, we should want to do this more, rather than let the smartest world citizens stay in their home countries and start competitors to our companies.
