For anyone who enjoyed Grimlock, check out Might & Magic 10. It was actually very good for this style. :-)

I should try again. I didn't like EOB3 on my IBM PS/2 model 286 10 Mhz PC back then. I think because I hated turn based. Maybe I will like it now since I am slow and like turn based.

Say what? EOB3 is not turn based. Its a tile by tile movement game. but far from turn based.

Man I loved the EOB games back in the day so I definitely snagged this.

I enjoyed the first Grimrock for what it was, a spiritual remake of the original Dungeon Master.

DM came out in 1987 for the Atari ST and was probably the first 2.5D dungeon crawler that got all the assorted parts down pat. The EOB games, the first of which was released 4 years after DM in 1991, were very much clones set in the Forgotten Realms universe. Not to say that EOB 1 and 2 weren't fantastic, they certainly were.

Only reason I played Grimrock.. was because it was the closest I've gotten to Stonekeep.

Stonekeep was fun, but the dungeon levels were a bit repetitive and I never stuck around to finish it. Plus I preferred having a full party, like in EOB. Now the first Lands of Lore? That was good enough to keep my attention all the way through. I still have the CD version on disc somewhere around here. Patrick Stewart voiced the King. Short, a little easy until the end, but a good EOB-clone.

Beat the first two back in highschool (93/94). I really wish they'd make a dungeon crawler like that again. I tried the two Grimrock games, beat them, and liked them, but they had no real story or suspense. The beauty about EOB2, especially, was that there was suspense and mystery and seeing the last boss' 2nd form...that was a big deal then.

I never felt that kind of connection with grimrock.

Only reason I played Grimrock.. was because it was the closest I've gotten to Stonekeep.

EOB3 was done by someone else and was the worst of the three. My preference was 2, 1, 3.
