Cyberpunk 2077 Details

A post on Reddit by Moraez has a handy roundup of details about Cyberpunk 2077 transcribed and translated from a series of premium podcasts from German magazine Gamestar (thanks VideoGamer). In other news about CD PROJEKT RED's upcoming RPG, IGN notes this press release about ad campaigns reveals that it will not be available on Stadia on September 17th when it launches for PC and consoles. Word is it will arrive on Google's streaming service by the end of the year. Here's a bit from the Reddit post on Gamestar's podcasts:

  • there will be no such thing as the barrels from the Witcher 3 in Cyberpunk with an overwhelming amount of map icons because some players want to complete every single map icon available.
  • Due to the coronavirus the devs had to work from home and CDPR sent over 700 Workstations out to the devs around the world with Cyberpunk installed. Therefor we know at least 701 people are working on the game.
Edit: -You will have about 3 times that much ways to solve a mission than in the Witcher 3. They thought “What is the dumbest thing a player could do now and how is it possible that the mission continues. The only thing stopping it is the players death. They called an example where you talk to someone, get shot and instead of fighting back you run away and buy a hamburger but the mission has to continue. (Does this mean eating is confirmed? I’m not sure)
  • They tried to improve this in the Witcher 3 DLCs and want to improve it even more in Cyberpunk: Some players said the missions when using the Witcher sight were to similar and not that interesting. We won’t see that again. I assume we will have something similar with our Cyberwear but that will be used better for missions.

I am not proud of it, but I also did them all.. like really all, I did my once-100% run .. exactly once (and discovered there are quests you can silently fail.. not amused). But I had a mod to make carrying all the stuff possible without going back anywhere, don't think I would have done it otherwise. So I can see why the devs would want to change that
Honestly, being able to install a mod and delete carrying caps has to be THE best part playing on PC.

Those loot barrels were definitely a chore in W3. I'm pretty sure I gave up on that and focused on quests to finish the game, but it was a way to least get me to explore and look the environment design that I would have otherwise missed.

Yeah, I was going to say that I stopped looting early on and just played the game. Looting barrels/crates is a really old game mechanism that I wish would just die. I'm not a f'n hobo, I'm an elite warrior!

An elite warrior out to save the world and you will get no price breaks from any vendor, if fact they'll do you bad by selling X for $1 and give you back 25 cents on the dollar, all in the name of you saving the world! Think they'd be happy to say "take whatever you want", "save us!".

That said I'm not so sure we can take this translation as gospel, it could be barrels in how they work with maps and completion, not that there are no barrels/boxes.

Good, no Cyberpunk 'barrels'. I hope there is some random loot, but Witcher 3 barrels, especially since they involved swimming and almost always, flying asshole enemies, were massive overkill. Even when I am 20+ levels higher than these things, they still attack? How the hell did the smugglers hide this much loot anyway?

I don't know whether to be impressed or sympathetic for you guys that got all the barrels... I started to, then just gave up after I scanned all the maps and saw how many freaking barrels there actually were. I ended up just getting ones that were somewhat close to wherever I was going.

Easy answer for me, I REALLY liked the Skellige soundtrack If that had not been the case I'd not have done 100% on that.. because yeah, the flying enemies and how they can destroy your boat in the open sea .. that was.. ehm a special challenge.

Hah! I did all the loot barrels on everything as I've always been a Bartle explorer. It's not completionist, it's just if I'm riding by the area I figure I may as well detour a bit for some free lootz. Plus I liked checking out the small islands in Skellige, looking for Easter eggs and what not. Too bad you couldn't have built a home on one of them. The estate in Blood and Wine was nice but it should have been bigger for more armor stands, artwork, et al. I hope you can get and customize your own pad in Cy2077 as well. I'd love to have Deckard's apt from Blade Runner.

Oh yeah, I am very familiar with those. I was seeking a 100% exploration goal on my second play through but ultimately gave up on those Skellige ocean treasures. They're EVERYWHERE and from what I read online, they have nothing worthy of looting every single one of them. While I desired to have every inch explored in the game, I could not get myself up to rowing in a boat that isn't entirely the fastest to every one of those for crappy treasures that will weigh me down requiring constantly selling of loot to free up weight restrictions.

I'm satisfied in the decision and can say, every single LAND icon had been discovered. Some of those on the land will lead to quests however so it's worth checking them out. I would have nearly missed that awesome Roach quest with the shrooms if I didn't explore a bit further

I'm not sure I follow that...

It's a bad translation from German, they meant irrelevant map icons that pointed ONLY to chest/barrels and nothing else of relevance. Meaning you won't have that anymore in Cyberpunk 2077

If you were traveling through Skellige you would probably know what they meant btw. There were hundreds of icons there, and most of them were floating barrels on the ocean with chests connected to them with no quest relevance, maybe a short fight, but rarely anything notable.
