That is even farther away than a colony on Mars. I'd love to participate in interstellar travel, I won't get to. And maybe no ever will...

Right now? Obviously would be a terrible idea, nowhere else to go for starters.

But I would love to visit the moon for a "vacation" (my idea of one, no people around). And how things are going that should be viable in 15-30 years. And Venus and Mars, why not. But I doubt those 2 will be viable tourist hot-spots in my lifetime.

We might "visit" the atmosphere of Venus, but we will probably have a Mars colony before we are on the surface of Venus. The surface temperature of Venus is 460 C(860 F) and the surface pressure is 92 times that of Earth -- equivalent to 1 km under the Earth's oceans

Any talk of humans traveling to Mars is just that, talk. It certainly won't happen in my lifetime. We might make it there before the century is out. Eighty years is a long time to make some significant technology advances. But the rewards for doing so, beyond pure exploration, are limited. Better tech will make it possible for probes to do more and more things without sending people. Which will in turn make sending people even less urgent. By the time humans land on Mars, we will know a hell of a lot more about it than we do currently.

We are not going to Mars. At least anytime soon. I don't even know why it's a thing that people have their jag on for. It's entirely impractical due to the dust and radiation alone. What exactly would be the upside of going to Mars beyond saying we did it? Space mining? Way easier and cheaper to do the Moon and asteroids, etc. JD nailed it saying we should go to Venus instead.

Late to the party but that launch was amazing. Mrs. Burrito and I were giddy the entire time.

For me, the most awesome part beyond putting Americans back in to space and orbiting the planet after launching from US soil, was that the entire Dragon module and Falcon launch system uses Linux.

Linux got us back in to space and Linux will take us to Mars.

Yup, everything is pretty much modern and up to date, except no stealth. But most of the time you don't need stealth for missions anyway. So why burn money flying stealth when something cheaper but nearly as capable will do?

The US Navy does every day. The F/A-18 E/F block 3 jets look amazing with some really cool modern tech like helmet target queuing, conformal fuel tanks, deployable decoys to fool missiles, a massive RCS reduction, avionics upgrades, LoS comm packages to network with F-35s, etc. It's really gen 4+++. It's a very capable aircraft that represents the low in the "high-low mix" the USN is going for. F-35C being the high.

Ditto for the new F-15.

I just think the SpaceX ones are goofy looking. And white is a poor choice. I do agree that blue is not the best color for a spacesuit but the Boeing suit looks tough and practical, color issue aside.
