it was nostalgic, but I don't see playing through the full game more than once.

Thanks to you and Wolfen for the feedback.
I loved SS2 and played it through 4 times over the years. Just loved the err.... atmosphere so, I am curious as to why you consider SS1 worthy of just 1 play through? Or are you just referring to the remake?

Also does the remake have mouse look?

Yes, the remake has mouse look. It's not that tied to the original design.

For replay, I was just referring to the remake. I already replayed the original several times over back in the day. But now I have a ton of games waiting to be played, and it seems wasteful to go through this over and over again if nostalgia's the only thing going for it. SS2 does have different builds going for it, this not so much.

Sound design wasn't as much of a thing in 1994, and there was a lot more atmospheric noise in the demo than the original game, but even so SS1 was much less a horror game than SS2, and more in the direction of shootiness. It's not DOOM by any means, but there's way less survival horror going on. It's very exploration-heavy, though, which I liked.

If you've played Bioshock, I think it's much more similar to this than to SS2, although the maps in SS2 are much, much bigger (again, a lot of exploration).
