Out of the Blue

Today is Memorial Day here in the U.S. This is at its heart a somber occasion intended to honor the sacrifices of fallen soldiers, and here is a solemn salute to them and their families. Over the years this has also become the unofficial start of summer. As I mentioned yesterday, our area here is one of many entering the first stages of reopening after the pandemic lockdown. Here's hoping people who've been suffering cabin fever will still use good judgment to properly safeguard against the continued threat of COVID-19. There are certainly examples otherwise, so here's hoping these are outliers.

I understand nothing of the sort. They've been told the danger is overstated, and believe they are acting relatively safely. It's important to understand points of view beyond your own. Nobody is trying to get a deadly disease just so they can give it to me.

Apeasment only emboldens the aggressor. Neville Chamberlain learned that to his everlasting shame. A choice that cost 10s of millions of lives and countless untold suffering. Evil succeeds in this world not because most people say yes to it, but because they don't say no. Pick a side already.

That is a tortured analogy at best. Not to mention sanctimonious and insulting. You've also more or less invoked Godwin's Law.

Massive hail the size of grapefruits pummeled north Texas on Thursday.

Hope all our TX Bluesers avoided broken windshields!

Yeah, watched that last night with a huge smile. Mark Rober sure is entertaining. And squirrels rival rats and crows for smarts.

Whatever you say, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Why on earth would you defend those idiots?

Not defending anyone. But wishing harm on others is no bueno. You shouldn't need that explained.

The main problem is that they go shopping later and they most certainly don't need to wear masks or gloves, but they do need to touch and smell every single piece of produce in every store they visit. So what if they might be a carrier, other people should protect themselves.

Completely disregarding the fact that the masks and gloves are best used by carriers and potential carriers to protect others. Wearing a mask doesn't protect you as much as a carrier wearing a mask.
