Star Citizen Free Fly Week

Another free fly week is getting underway later today in Star Citizen, allowing you to be a free fly on the wall in Cloud Imperium's long-in-development crowdfunded space game. This celebrates Invictus Launch Week 2950 and involves the chance to try a rotating assortment of different spacecraft over the course of the next 11 days as outlined in this schedule. Here's an Invictus Launch Week 2950 Teaser Trailer and here's word:
Check out the verse’s biggest, best, and most iconic ships up-close at the Bevic Convention Center on ArcCorp. In addition, pilots can get hands-on test flights for free. With a rotating selection of manufacturer’s taking over the hall every few days, there’s never been a better time to discover everything that Star Citizen has to offer with free fly flights!

What: Known colloquially as Fleet Week, the Invictus Launch Week marks the period between Emancipation Day and Armistice Day and the beginning of the new year of recruits for the UEE Navy. To honor the citizens who signed up to defend the Human systems during this time, pilots will have the rare opportunity for Free Fly test flights, special promotions, community contests, and more, including a special in-game fire-works display to usher in the arrival of immense capital ships appearing in the ‘verse for the first time.

I do threads on it from time to time. But only on my Twitter feed now because I stopped writing blogs back in May 2019 once their financials revealed that they were in the Red several years in a row and got an investor bailout back in Summer 2018; and which they didn't disclose to backers until Dec 2018.

My latest threads

CIG confesses (via Crytek lawsuit) to not having switched to Lumberyard after all

CIG sells more shares to pay Crytek

Star Citizen Scope Creep in 3.9

Star Citizen, the next gen disaster that is 3.9

Star Citizen Invictus Launch & the F8 fighter debacle

And I followed the Crytek lawsuit from start to finish - with commentary

Though I do follow it from time to time, my interest has waned over time because, well, basically everything that I stated back in my first blog of July 2015, has come true. So all I'm doing now is just commenting on important events while waiting for the looming end game which appears to be in the long term rather than the short term because we should never underestimate the power of sunk cost fallacy - the only explanation for why in 2020 (if current funding keeps up) they would have received over 30% of their entire 8 yr rev - in one year. It's uncanny (assuming the funding chart is real).

What the hell? Do you want them to rush it out of the door? The release date is APPROXIMATELY in 2950 - they might need a bit more time and money, so it could actually be year 30XX or 3XXX - if everything goes according to plan!

Wow, it looks like they fucked up the launch of this with severs that crashed and poor communication has to when this was actually starting.

Classic Chris Roberts C.I.G. - 8 years, $300 million and they fuck this up epic!

Who would have thought that this could be this badly mismanaged ….

So after waiting I was number 12 in queue. Then the number shot back up to 24. Then the game crashed. Now I have to wait again. This is bullshit. All that money they are scamming out of people and can't afford more servers. Once again I reach the point where it's my turn and the game crashes. Scumbags.

70GB is nothing remarkable. It's pretty average by today's standards.
Figures, shows you how much attention I pay to that stuff.

Yes it's nuts how large game install have become.
Modern Warfare is currently 186GB installed (and it seems every patch is at least 30GB)
Battlefield V 153GB
Rainbow Six Siege 110GB

On topic: I am one of the suckers that invested in this game and I don't even care about playing it anymore if it is ever finished. The last time I looked at a build of it the main thing was a first person shooter. It must be nice to have a big pile of someone else's money to just play around with.

I pwnz j00!

I installed CoD: Infinite Warfare recently: 90GB. And that's a 2016 game.

Textures, Dialog and Cutscenes.

So it seems there is a bug that when ya get to 9 or 10 in the que the game says "NOPE!" and just closes. Now attempting after a system reboot.

Closed at 9. All done trying to try this.

It's almost modest for a MMO/sim game (and an unfinished and unoptimized one to boot). Games like TESO or Destiny 2 are 90GB, GTA V/RDR 2 are well north of 100GB, Hitman 2 is 150GB, DCS World weighs in at 185GB, R6 Siege is 110GB, Anthem is just over 80GB. One game that I have installed that is exactly 70GB in size is Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
70GB is nothing remarkable. It's pretty average by today's standards.
