Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.
The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.
All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto’s darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.

Well that's awful generous of them.
Is Epic throwing some sort of cash at RockStar for this or is RockStar also in bed providing this for free?
Rockstar makes mad cash out of GTA Online, so the more people that have a chance of stumbling into the online the better. They'd make GTAV "free to play" if not for the fear it'd devalue the GTA brand name.
No developer will give its last game, still selling famously and for the foreseeable future, free. Dumbest bussiness decision.
Rest assured, Rockstar *is* getting something from Epic.
Be it money for each GTA5 downloaded, fixed global amount, or variations, or the use of the new Unreal 5 engine for free for a time.
Or a stellar cheap deal for publishing their next game, etc.
If Rockstar wanted the game to get to the most people free, getting nothing for it, they would have picked Steam, obviously.

I bet 90% of these "claims" are people picking up a backup copy.

Once Epic gets their store back online I'll grab this.
Here's how I was able to get a copy.
1. Open up EGS app
2. Go to search bar and enter "GTA"
3. Select GTAV from the search results.
4. Page loads. I was able to obtain my copy.
