Lol that is not cheating. That is the premise of any battle royal movie or anime. You create friendships to get an edge. If you want nothing more than 1x1 matchups, you don't do it in a battle royal.

Well, I assume they were using third party chat clients. If you're playing on locked down hardware, that won't be available.

Well, you would have to essentially give them competition accounts with random names and identical skins on top of that if you wanted to prevent this. And considering how Fortnite works, how accounts work in that and how comps work.. I'd say locking down hardware would do surprisingly very little if someone were intent on "fixing" a match.

What really is the only point here is that Fortnite is a REALLY badly designed competitive game for big event comps, much like Fifa btw
