It was a simple business transaction.
There is no such thing as "ethics" when it comes to business.

When Epic offers a developer/publisher money to remove their existing upcoming game from Steam (or anywhere else) it is a sleazy move. There are so many examples of it now.

In these specific instances both Epic and devs are thinking only of themselves. Both are willing to flush goodwill and customer expectations down the toilet. How anyone could see it as anything other than unethical is beyond me.

A 1'st party exclusive is an exception to me. In those cases the storefront is less a store, and more a launcher for a game the store owner put their own resources in to creating. If one chooses to sell their game on the open market, however, then let it be in the open market.

It still amazes me that there's those here who champion this practice which was once associated only with the console market mostly because, from what I can tell, they have a beef with Steam. My store preference is GoG, but at least Steam earned it's place. Technically EGS isn't doing anything wrong, but their practice and lack of resources being put in to the actual store (they couldn't even get their 2FA push done correctly) leaves them in last place in my who I buy from.

All exclusives for anything should be boycotted if you care about your rights as a consumer. You can't always do it, but it's better to choose to not support exclusives where possible.

NO!

In a nutshell, encouraging anti-competitive practices and saying it's pro-competition is dumb.

If you disagree, I have war propaganda to sell to you. "Make the world a better more peaceful place by committing genocide, Heil Netanyahu!"

Which digital storefront has no exclusives?

That's a nice appeal to hypocrisy logical fallacy on top of a strawman logical fallacy you got there. Steam/GoG and all the other various digital stores don't pretend anything about pro competitive practices while engaging in dev bribes and anti-competitive practices.

NEXT!

I also enjoyed KC. Enough that I threw some money to the devs for all DLC after enjoying the game so much. Otherwise, wouldn't have been a game I'd've tried out.

The ethics of the EGS actions are troublesome, and after deep consideration, made me realize that I'll greedily grab anything free, even if it's provided by the mafia.

Sadly, obviously my loss, KC bored me.
Bought all DLCs, and valiantly tried to stay interested.
But so much trite reality, then a quest for lost fowls in the country finally kicked me out.
Now, if they had been undead fowl.
Of course, I´ll come back eventually asking forgiveness ... hopefully with fantasy and QOL mods intervening.

KC is excellent. Even though the combat system wasn't great I like that they tried something different.

I don't really mind the combat system. They kind of want you to feel like you suck early on to encourage you to train more. That's what makes the character progression awesome! It sort of reminds me of Gothic in that sense. I do notice a tiny bit of stutter when combat starts, so my opponent will sometimes get the first blow in if I'm caught off guard

a bit off topic, I just started playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance which I got on EGS for free. Wow! What an amazing game so far! I had no idea. I think I avoided the game when it first came out because of all the mixed reviews (performance issues, bugs, etc), but so far, I've had no issues. This is the way a role-playing game should be! And it's nice that it's not based on fantasy literature for a change
