Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Another Adult Rating

A post to the Australian Classification Website offers a further reflection of the adult content coming in Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED's upcoming sc-fi role-playing game. They rate the game R18+, citing: "High impact themes, sex, violence, and references to sexual violence." Specifically they say the game's drug use has moderate impact, both its language and nudity have strong impact, while the high impact R18+ elements are themes, violence, and sex.

They're just hyping everyone's expectations for this game way beyond sustainable levels.

They are releasing information, what you and others do with it is "hype". And this isn't even them hyping anything it's a fucking Classification by the Aussie Gov.

Just a few more months to polish the bewb and dong physics. This should be their top priority right now.

Between this and making my Golden Girls team in Watch Dogs Legion it's gonna be a good year (when this all comes out and hopefully on time)

"High impact themes, sex, violence, and references to sexual violence."
So what i'm reading here is, with the right attachment, you could maybe achieve high impact sex also?

Would this have been banned outright in Australia in the past?

So long as they don't "modify" anything in the game because of the censors, they can rate it whatever they want.

Seems fair enough.
Parents will just buy it for their kids if they are under 18 anyway.
That's how these things generally go here.
About 10 or so years ago they tried to bring in legislation to punish parents who purchased 'R' rated games for under age kids after "do gooders" whinged and bitched but, they realized that it was going to be completely unsustainable so dropped it.
I mean under 18s still get alcohol/tobacco with monotonous ease so.......
Don't like Federal Law Enforcement in your city?

Have you tried NOT burning and looting to see if that helps?

Possibly. Australia's always been fairly lenient with straightforward violence in the past. The main reason why stuff gets banned is if there's sexual violence or drug use related to "rewards". (E.g GTA3 was banned back in the day because you could have sex with a hooker, then run her over and collect money (a "reward") from her body after.)

So there could be drug use and sexual violence, or "references to" it, in this game, but if the player doesn't get rewarded for doing those things it might still have been OK in the past. And even today, if the player were rewarded for those things it might have still been banned. That's what's written in the guidelines, i.e. "Implied sexual violence related to incentives and rewards" results in "Refused classification" (banned).

I'm surprised Australia didn't spontaneously re-combust again when they were given the title to review for their rating board. I remember they pissed and moaned about Fallout 3 about chems so Bethesda had to rename them so they weren't reflective of real drugs and initially refused classification for Kingdom Come: Deliverance while using the same "high impact" language.

LOL... I never thought of that as being a reward. Heck if you mowed any pedestrian down, or beat them with a bat , or whatever... they'd drop cash for you to "rob", and eventually the cop meter would go up. The only reason it didn't go up sooner is because you didn't use a gun... or specifically with hookers... at night and not a ton of witnesses around. So Rockstar basically got banned for trying to make their cop meter reasonably realistic.
