Cyberpunk 2077 Rating Details

A post on Reddit from last week shows Brazilian classification information for Cyberpunk 2077 (thanks PCGamesN). This is confirmed by a tweet from Paweł Sasko, the lead quest designer on the game. His tweet offers a rough translation of content mentioned in the listing. This doesn't really spoil much, but does reflect what sounds like a pretty gritty adult experience. Or as he put it, "we don't f*ck around." Here's what contributes to the game's adult rating:

  • Weapons without violence (everyone);
  • Moderate or hinted use of licit drugs (everyone);
  • Weapon with violence (10+);
  • Criminal action without violence (10+);
  • Description of consume of licit drugs (10+);
  • Derogatory language (10+);
  • Verbal aggression (12+);
  • Violent acts (12+);
  • Sexual pleasurement (12+);
  • Consume of licit drugs (12+);
  • Violence description (12+);
  • Exposure to danger (12+);
  • Exposure to death corpse (12+);
  • Body injury (12+);
  • Foul Language (12+);
  • Sexual Language (12+);
  • Blood (12+);
  • Description of illicit drug consumption or trafficking (14+);
  • Sexualization (14+);
  • Sexual exploitation (14+);
  • Intentional death (14+);
  • Nudity (14+);
  • Prostitution (14+);
  • Sexual relationship (14+);
  • Consume of illicit drugs (16+);
  • Mutilation (16+);
  • Intense sexual relation (16+);
  • Suicide (16+);
  • Cruelty (18+);

Mitigation: Nothing

Aggravating: Illicit drug consume and intense sexual relationship was aggravated by scene composition.

Anybody familiar with the original setting? Was it a mature setting to begin with? I know, at that time they didn't market/classify games like that, but you know what I mean.

I will be getting the game for sure, not sure if I'll wait for the all in one GotY version though.

Cyberpunk 2020 could get pretty graphic, but considering the nature of it being tabletop you're looking at mileage may vary depending on who and where the game was running.

I was in a game once where a friend played as a Nomad and she wore the skin of her 'fallen friends' (see: pets) and that was pretty tame. Another game has a Netrunner that did nothing but plaster pretty graphic porn directly into the brains of people for fun.

So the world allows for it, but it was always left mostly up to the players/GM.

If it and the DLC are as good - or better - than W3 than you'll be playing through it a couple of times anyway. So do the main game first and then your next replay after the DLC are out and acquired.

Indeed. This does not bode well.

Well, a game that's 12+ in this system looks like it would have to cut off at foul/aggressive language, violence, sexuality, drug use, corpses, and blood, which sounds about on par with an ESRB rating of T for Teen. Cyberpunk is going way beyond that into glorifying drug use, excessive violence and sexuality, nudity, gore, etc., so it's going to be a hard M about on par with The Witcher or GTA. Perhaps pushing it a little further than that, but not by much because an AO is not an option, obviously.

I'm pretty sure those are the age categories that each element would put the game into. So it's getting an 18+ rating in Brazil due to 'Cruelty,' basically extreme/sadistic violence.

Didn't consider that but it would be really fucking weird if that's the case. My parents never would have let me play a game like this at 12 years old.

Heh, that's hi-larious. On a scale of 1-10 4 things are already a 10 and eveything else not only goes to 11, they go waaaaaaay past it. Ahhh cruelty...we always hurt the ones we love, don't we?

Ok, this I was concerned this might have turned out PC but my fears are now assuaged. This sounds like it's going to be like Rick Sanchez fucked up.
