A
post from a couple of weeks ago on the Stadia Community Blog follows up on
the
previous news about a two
month free trial of Stadia Pro. In this Google says they are moving away from
the Stadia Base name but they are now making that basic level of service free
and open to everyone in supported markets for their streaming game service. This
is in line with an announcement they made
in
February that such a move was in the works.
GamesIndustry.biz has a clarification from Google that this means that
"users who let subscriptions lapse will still be able to purchase new games for
Stadia, play them, and will have their resolution capped at 1080p as originally
stated for Stadia Base -- with Pro subscribers able to play games in 4k." Here's
word:
Last week, Stadia opened up access to Stadia to everyone in our 14
launch countries. Some of you may be wondering if this is Stadia Base. While
we've decided to move away from that name, we're very excited that Stadia is now
free and open to everyone who wants to create an account in our supported
markets.
We’re also making a number of games available for free during a 2 month Stadia
Pro trial. We’ve got all the details below.
Try Stadia Pro free for two months and get free games
Many of us are spending more time at home. Games can help us connect with
friends and explore other worlds. So we’re giving you two months of free games
you can claim and play with Stadia Pro at no cost. Go to
stadia.com/pro, sign up for a trial, and you
can start playing on your laptop, desktop, or
compatible
phone or tablet. If you have a Stadia Controller and a Google Chromecast Ultra,
you can play on your TV as well.

more here.
If you’re already a Stadia Pro subscriber, we won’t charge you for your Stadia
Pro subscription for the next two months. The free two months will be applied
automatically, so you don’t have to do anything to redeem.
