Cloudpunk Released

Cloudpunk is now available on Steam, and this cyberpunk RPG for Windows where you play as a variation on the Deliverator carries a 10% launch discount. The Launch Trailer offers a look at gameplay, and this post has the details:
Nivalis is brought to life by its colourful characters and the stories they tell, but also by an evocative soundtrack, and a cast of talented voice actors. The beautiful city is the result of hard work by the programming team and the level designers, who have created a multi-levelled, realistic, living and breathing city that also serves as the cyberpunk playground for our story to play out.

It’s been a privilege to be part of this team, and we are all proud of the final game we have made. Every step of the way, we had cyberpunk fans cheering us on, and for that we want to say a big thank you.
Continue here to read the full story.
We can’t wait to hear what you think of Rania’s story during her first night working in Nivalis. Cloudpunk is filled with intrigue, humour, darkness and hope, and we hope you love playing it as much as we loved making it.

Welcome to Cloudpunk!

Most of the reviews I read on Steam aren't very positive except for the visuals and it's more of a chill simulator than a game per se. Like this one....

I actually don't mind the voice acting. It's more that the game mechanics are just not any fun. It's pretty much 100% fetch quests. Grab the box from point A, listen to some dialogue with zero choices or consequence (except for one mission I played involving a bomb but even that seemed low stakes.), then drop off said package at point B. Rinse and repeat. None of your actions feel like they matter and nothing really feels at stake. Which is a shame because the beginning dialogue does draw interest when they said, no drivers ever make it past their first night.

I'll probably grab it when it hits the $5 or less category. Seems more like a tablet/phone game tbh.

Edit: There we go in the Eurogamer review below....

Cloudpunk is all style with little substance, and perfunctory to the point of dull. While it's refreshing to play a game that unashamedly puts the story first and lets us explore this complex universe without a weapon in our hand, neither the story nor its mechanical gameplay offers enough to keep me suitably engaged and entertained. It feels as though it's pulling in way too many directions at once, uncertain of its own identity. Despite its stunning aesthetic, sublime score, and intriguing premise, Cloudpunk doesn't quite deliver... which is ironic, really, given that's pretty much all Rania can do.

Streamed this for 6 hours yesterday, which I wasn't expecting to do for so long.

This game's not for everyone. It's slow, lacking challenge and is heavily focused on the story, being in the world and optionally, collecting stuff. The voice acting is also pretty hit and miss but never gets very bad.

Thing is, the world is incredible to experience and surprisingly huge for a game of this size. What I've played of the story so far (probably about 2/3 of it) has also been very good. I've been interested in this since it was announced because I love anything cyberpunk themed and this didn't disappoint me.

If you're into the occasional game more focused on story and world than action, I definitely recommend checking this out.
