Battlefield V Plans

A post on the future of Battlefield V discusses plans for a new content release for the shooter sequel this summer, new rewards and events, and continued progress on the game's ant-cheat measures. Here's the battle plan:
What’s Coming after Battlefield V Chapter 6
As you are aware, the current Battlefield V Chapter, Into the Jungle, wraps up on April 29. As we look to the future, we will release one more standalone update this summer that brings with it some new content, weapons, and game tweaks. We are targeting June for this update. We’re still tackling the challenges from working from home and will let you know how things progress for us over the next month.

Here’s a brief overview on what’s coming:

  • New Content: A new update will be released this summer.
  • Weekly Rewards: Following the summer update, you’ll receive Battlefield Currency or Company Coin as Weekly Rewards, giving you a chance to unlock gear you may have missed.
  • Events and Activities: We’re also planning various weekly initiatives such as the reintroduction of #FridayNightBattlefield servers, where the community can play Battlefield V in a friendly atmosphere. Throwback Thursdays, where we'll look to bring you together across all of our Battlefield titles are in the works, too.
  • We are continuing our work on Community Games Updates. We are committed to bringing these to the game and we’ll keep you updated on when you can expect them to start coming online.

As the battles rage on for you and your squad mates, old and new, we’ll continue to PTFO with you for a long time.

Continued Work with Anti-cheat
Our work against cheating in Battlefield V will continue, too. The members of our anti-cheat team are working daily towards making the battlefield experience as free of foul play as possible. Discussing technical detail into our methods may unfortunately make cheating worse, but we want you to know that we’re constantly fighting the battle.

As a reminder, there are steps you can take to help us keep the fight fair. You can report suspected cheaters through the Origin overlay if you're playing on PC, or through your respective consoles if you're playing on Xbox One or PlayStation® 4. This walkthrough on the Battlefield™ Forums will show you how. Also, protect your EA Account so it won’t be compromised and used by cheaters. Here’s how it’s done.

Thank you all for joining this journey and we look forward to sharing more with you this summer. Having a community of your caliber is a true privilege. In the meantime, we’ll see you on the battlefield.

I was so bummed that this game turned out the way it did. Every other BF game I've been able to find something that keeps me going but I burned out so quickly on this. Just felt like a comedy of errors and stupid design decisions and I was so fucking let down by the maps in particular. I think there was maybe 2 maps I enjoyed, the rest felt very generic due to the necessity of shared modes/maps and the dearth of vehicles in many of them was so aggravating.

The UI, TTK and visibility issues stuck around way too long. Yet another BF game where they seemingly threw away everything they learned and started over, so many bizarre reversions from improvements made in prior games. They were quick to add stupid modes that no one wanted yet slow to deliver maps and fixes. The Pacific Update was solid but it was lipstick on a pig. I gave up shortly after and moved on.

I really love the series as a whole and hope that they find their way back to quality again.

All I want is for DICE to return to form and create a new game on the newest Frostbite technology in line with BC1, BC2, BF3, and BF4. I don't care about anything they've done in the past 5+ years.

All the cool stuff with modern combat like destruction, networked water, levolution, etc. is just gone now. And I want modern weapons with choppers back on huge 64 player maps.

I can't agree more with you guys. BF needs to get back to some form of modern combat, and properly scaled large 64 player maps so that there are tactics involved while still having the arcadey feel, but not trying to be a mil-sim. Too much meat grinding...

With BF5, the content delivery was way too slow, and as stated very unimpressive maps. The recent Pacific maps are pretty good, but aren't we like 2 years in now? I think the "live as a service" or whatever its called that they tried rather than having DLC must have not gone as planned. With the slow content drivel if feels like they had a skeleton crew on this game.

At this point it kinda sucks DICE/EA owns the Frosbite engine if all they are going to do is crank out turds with it. If modding was still a thing, the community would make their content efforts look like trash and we might actually have a fun game to play, made by gamers, and not empty suits.

I am older now and not a big multiplayer guy. I wish Dice would just throw us a bone with some sp modes with bot ai. They did it with their star wars games, wish they could bring that to their modern fighting games.

Agreed with everything above. The franchise had been pretty well neutered. I think BF3 was the high point, though BF4 was close. After those, I was really hoping for 2143. I mean, they teased it enough. Now, though, I hope they don't make it until they've figured out how to make a good BF game again. Pout

I honestly feel like BF4 was the high point of this series, in terms of weapon and vehicle balance. Tanks were stronger in BF3, but probably TOO strong, really.

BF1 and BFV just didn't do it for me, although I might just be getting sick of the online complete trash community experience, who knows.

I don't get people's obsession with 'modern' combat in games or unlock progression for that matter which would have been better left out in this game. Imagine a bfv where the weapons were actually locked to both sides (asymmetrical balance) and weapons/tech only appearing on maps for the correct years. Or more factions, French, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Finnish. Ayssmetrical map balance (invasion of France, french receive Char Bis b1 heavy tanks, Germans only get panzer 2, 38t, 3 (max 37mm), 4 (max 75mm short barrel).

Instead there are hundreds of guns (for some reason that can have Holo sights), very little nation's, no actual year by year showing progression of weapons/vehicles to use. Quantity over Quality.

I still think the best BF was BFBC2. I am very surprised it didn't last as long as the others. The destructible buildings and environments really made for some great gameplay.

Shocker, the cheating destroyed the game.

Announce you're only making one more map and don't make it Wake? Haha I just noticed, well done Dice. Truly the capper on this colossal fuckup.

The funny thing is, the fact I consider BF4 great, BF1 bad, and BF5 abysmal either means they got worse at making shooters or I get older and have higher standards.. but nope, I can still get down to a grind in BF4 on metro... you'd have to literally pay me to even reinstall BF1

BFBC2 is my fav of the past 10 years. Before that it was BF Vietnam.

How many times has Wake been done though? BF42, BFV, BF2, one more place I forget.

It was with BC2 that they really started doing PC + Console releases. I dont know what their revenue streams are like per platform, but I can imagine a shift in game design to better support console gamers. Perhaps that's how the franchise has ended up here?

I wonder if yearly releases of BF and COD have now become legacy shooters. The new, lucrative model appears to be F2P with season passes, and the quality of product/service appears to be better for the gamer in the long run too.

Many times but its their franchise map and I don't know how you ship a Pacific content update and not include Wake. They already demo'd it and said it was coming even.
