Crysis Remastered Officially Announced

Following up on the accidental reveal mentioned earlier, Crytek now officially announces Crysis Remastered, saying the updated version of the 2007 first-person shooter is coming to PC and consoles this summer with "remastered graphics and optimizations for the latest modern hardware." Here's an Official Teaser Trailer, and here's the announcement, which mentions this is being co-developed with Saber Interactive:
Crytek has announced a remaster of the classic first-person shooter Crysis will be available this summer for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation®4, and Nintendo Switch. Co-developed on CRYENGINE with Saber Interactive, Crysis Remastered features the action-packed gameplay, sandbox world and epic battles of the original blockbuster title, with remastered graphics and optimizations for the latest modern hardware.

“We are excited to be working on the Crysis franchise again, and to bring all the Crysis fans a remaster worthy of their passion for the game,” said Crytek CEO Avni Yerli. “It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to bring Crysis back to PCs and current consoles – even Nintendo Switch – so that a whole new generation of players can experience the thrill of a battle in the Nanosuit!”

Crysis Remastered will feature the original game’s single-player campaign alongside high-quality textures, an HD texture pack, improved art assets, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, and particle effects (where applicable). Further additions like volumetric fog and shafts of light, software-based ray tracing, and screen space reflections deliver a major visual upgrade to this classic FPS experience.

The original Crysis arms players with the powerful Nanosuit on the battleground of a new war against alien invaders. The Nanosuit’s speed, strength, armor and cloaking allow creative solutions for every fight, with a huge arsenal of modular weaponry to give you incredible control over your play style. Become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, boost your strength to lay waste to vehicles, and deflect damage to dominate your enemies in this enormous sandbox world.

Drakan is a true classic.
The relationship with the dragon was fantastic, a lovable character like few in any game.

I played Drakan 1 so many times, and probably will play it again, aged tech and all.

Also played emulated PS2 Drakan 2 The Ancient Gates, and liked it a whole lot.

There we go. Will you be the first that signs the petition?

@Blue, I've got news for you! There's this dude that created a petition for a Drakan remake. Post it on Bluesnews why don't ya? xD

Crysis 1 (and it's expansion) were semi-open world. Crysis 2 and 3 were more console friendly, so far more linear levels, though 3 opened things up a bit more so than 2.

If you remember Crysis 1 as short you're probably thinking of Warhead, the C1 expansion. All the others were decent length shooters. In fact I think part 1 took the longest to complete if I remember right.

Oh wait, I am completely confused and I realize that now that you mention there are 3 Crysis games. I checked out some Let's Plays and I still don't have my memory in order regarding the games, but seeing the Crysis 2 ending I know I meant that Crysis 2 was short. Not 1.

What I do remember clearly:
1.) Crysis 1 was revolutionary, played like shit on my rig and the gameplay felt a bit convoluted;
2.) Crysis 3 was my favourite and is still a treat to the eyes.

Bloom was kind of cool in Oblivion. Made some of the armor, weapons and enviroment look very shiny and pretty. I dont usually like it, but it worked for that game.

Hehe, those marvelous new graphical features getting introduced back in the day huh? I remember that Drakan was the first game where different materials reacted differently to reflections. I remember showing my mom the way the sun reflected in Rynn's blade. O, nostalgia.

Speaking about Drakan, there's one that needs a goddamn reboot!

Wasn't Crysis 1 short and Crysis 2 better in every way? That's how I remember it at least.

Yes, give me a higher Fiel Of View option.

Also spare me the *mist* in some games.
I get the ambience idea, but not so thick I can barely see things.

I always disable Depth Of Field, Bloom, Blur.
Even antialiasing. Prefer crisp colors and textures over no jaggies.

Love all Crysis games. But next, please please remake Far Cry 1.
Don't care at all for the rest of the Far Cry franchise, only for 1.

I remember when Bloom was introduced in my eyes, first in World of Warcraft. Meaning, first game I ever played that had it and I remember when it was patched in.

Initially it was like, oh wow, everything felt overly bright. I thought I was supposed to believe that brighter was a better thing and left it on for a bit. I then was like, let me turn it back off and see how the game is without again. My my, never turned on again or in any game after that had it in the video settings.

While we're on the topic of disabling useless tech, my personal most-hated has always been depth of field. It's redundant and restrictive. Eyes already do it, and to use it to force me to look somewhere is not a pleasant experience, it just makes me feel like I have blurry vision. I will look where and when I choose, thank you very much. Furthermore, I don't need to point my mouse at something in a scene to look at it, I simply move my eyes.

I never liked motion blur or screen shaking. I get motion sickness easy though so I turn it off no matter how 'well' it might be done.

right, making everything blurry seems to be counter intuitive of having 4k and a high end video card

Motion Blur goes all the way back to the 3DFX Voodoo 5 / Geforce 2 era.

At the time the "high" resolution was 1280x1024, and the the LCD monitors couldn't refresh very well. (Aka ghosting or strobbing). Motion blur was introduced to trick the eye into ... well... smoother motion.

It truly is a legacy feature that isn't really needed anymore.

Bloom is just outright annoying. Always has been.

They will never push the envelope like they did with the first game again, not after answering the siren's call of console development. Actually, even the PC gamers of today would bitch to no end if they couldn't run the game at max settings and 100 fps, so they're partly to blame, as well.

Ooohh... yes please !
I played through all the Crysis games, but didn't really like the later installments as they were pretty much on rails. I loved however the first two.
The only problem I have with this is that it will be available on current gen consoles including the Switch, which unfortunately indicates that they will not go ham with state-of-the-art graphics.
