Resident Evil 4 Remake Rumor [Apr 12, 2020, 12:53 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments

reports hearing from "multiple sources" that Capcom is working on a
Resident Evil 4 Remake, saying this is in full production and currently
carries a 2022 release window estimate. This makes sense in light of the release
of remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, but this is unconfirmed for
now. So while this remains a rumor, they offer a lot of
details:
Development is being led by Osaka-based M-Two, the new studio founded by former PlatinumGames head Tatsuya Minami, which has been preparing for the project since 2018.
However, similar to how 2020’s Resident Evil 3 was led by company Red Works, Capcom’s internal teams and other external studios are likely to lend support.
It’s understood that the remake has the blessing of original game director Shinji Mikami, who officially declined an approach to lead the project himself but has provided informal advice on its direction.

This was my only real experience with Resident Evil. It... wasn't great.
At first, the game was great. That first mission may be ugly, but man, it was doing things no other game was doing at the time.
Unfortunately, my interest didn't last. The inventory system was horrible. Worse, the combat scheme. I get it, if it's a third person shooter it's less scary, so you had to limited, but it got frustrating for me. I watched a roommate play the whole way through, and the plot also went too off the rails for me.
I did play RE5 all the way, though. Similar issues, but it was co-op, so...

Yeah, I'm curious to see what it would look like with the ray-tracing and goodness of PS5 and Xbox Series X graphics
They've got a great engine and if any RE game is deserving of this, it's definitely RE4.
They are going to make every resident evil because it sells like hot cakes and it's a lot cheaper to remake a game than to start one from scratch. Buy low sell high.
RE4, especially the beginning area, has looked like dog shit on every system... it was just some bad choices of colors and textures. Seeing that redone, and made more interesting in higher quality would be great.
Also this is coming from someone who played RE4 for literally years, unlocking everything... which I don't normally do, but it was like a group activity with college roomates.

I was just thinking I could do with a resident evil 4 playthrough. I absolutely loved that game at the time of release. I tried playing the HD version on steam, and boy that game did not age well.
Graphics wise it's alright. But maaaaaaaaaan the controls are clunky AF and the gun play has a dark souls tedium to it, but without the feeling of satisfaction when you get it right.
I think they'll have to improve the gun play feel for the RE4 remake. It's not quite good enough in RE3 to be in a more shooter oriented game like RE4. It needs to be more satisfying to shoot.

I'd be surprised if they skipped Code Veronica since they're still real happy about porting RE4 to every system known to man. They also have an Asian poll more or less asking what people would think about another remake.
RE3R makes me a little hesitant with their direction though since they dumpstered the last half of the game and hit the random button for the first half.

Holy shit, we get it, nostalgia is a strong force. 
To be fair, RE4 is one of the best Resident Evils, although some purists dislike its more gun oriented gameplay, I guess.
Maybe we don't need 20 different RE games though?
