Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition Revealed

Taiwanese ratings seem to reveal plans for Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition, reports Gematsu, who note they also recently found a Korean rating for a Switch edition of the Mafia II remake. There aren't many particulars for now, and each listing shows a 12/31/2020 date, which are obviously placeholders or windows and not actual release dates.

Hrm, I must be the outlier, I liked all three games.

Likewise. I enjoyed all three games and I remember posting in the threads about Mafia III that a black mafia was real and did exist.

Yeah same. I think the Mafia 3 concept was really good. The time, the setting, the music -- the origin-story of soul music almost -- it had great, amazing potential. I think they failed in the delivery.

I'd rather see #1 redone, was a great game.

Same. I remember being blown away by the story telling and ending of it all. Mafia 2 never grabbed me the same way but I heard good things about it. I just could never get into it the same way Mafia 1 had me.

Mafia 2 still isn't terribly looking. I mean the trench coat does flap... so it has that going for it, lol.

Mafia 1 on the other hand was as good as it got prior to physics being introduced on everything these days. I would love to see a full blown remake. With that remake however, at least fix the racing segment in the game, lol.

And the world setting was so much more involved/complete in 1 than 2 (never played 3).

Cruising down town surrounded by tall buildings, taking rips out in the hills/country side with expansive views. It felt like a small world, not a small sandbox.

Real cops who pulled you over for speeding was mind blowing for an early open world game. But it still had plenty of goofball in it. I remember doing wheel stands in the drag car then hitting an open draw bridge and flying through the air. And the race was brutal, I must've tried it a dozen+ times before I beat it, one of the few complaints I had with the game.

#2 felt like a bland, empty GTA clone, looked pretty for the time, but that was about it.

Part 3 had it going good with the introduction mission. Then the devs decided that was enough love and they dropped you in a lifeless world with no more of that immersive gameplay the intro mission had.

Part 2 was amazing, although I was expecting a world with more to do in it. There was really no reason to stray from the missions.

Part 1 was the best for its time. Except the racing part. I still have that radio tune in my head today. Tu-du tututu tu-du, tu-du tututu tu-du, tu-du tututu tu-du, tu-du te-du tutu...

Hrm, I must be the outlier, I liked all three games. Three probably had the best story overall, but the open world was also probably the most repetitive. Oh well.

1 and 2 were so stereotypically Italian that I'm glad they strayed from that in the third game.

All three of the games would be better with more weapons carried simultaneously. Console weapon limits hurt fun options!

Mafia III sucked...Could not get into it at all...

Same. At first when I picked it up I thought everyone was wrong about it. The graphics looked great. The animation was dope and the shooting mechanics were generally really well done.

It's just missing something that grabs you. Maybe it was the location or something that I couldn't get into much at all.

I felt the same. I think it was from the character you play as being not likable at all and the fact that he's not an Italian mob guy, which made no sense to me being that the game is called MAFIA and the previous games you were an Italian mob guy. Although I could have over looked that if the character had a better personality, but the way he was made me want to kick his ass. I did like the setting of the 60's though. It was very disappointing to me that you didn't play as Vito again. It was cool they put him in the game, but not playing as him annoyed me, especially how Mafia 2 ended.

Mafia 2 on the other hand I loved to death. I played that game over and over. The setting and characters worked for me so well. According to steam, I have 81 hours in that game. Whereas with Mafia 3 only 6.

I will definitely pick up a remastered Mafia 2 on the PC and Switch.

Weird. One company ignores the good Saint's Row 2 that SERIOUSLY needs a remake, the other company ignores the great Mafia (1) that SERIOUSLY needs a remake... It is like they all go for the quick money for less work with only remaking/remastering the more recent games.
