Half-Life: Alyx No VR Mod

This video has details on how to play Half-Life: Alyx without a VR headset, offering instructions and links to download the files this requires (thanks VGC). This seems to use the same debug files seen in our first look at Valve's new shooter being played with a mouse and keyboard, which we've been warned is far from the best way to experience it. Since this seems to use leaked version of Valve files, it may end up being foxed at some point. But maybe not either, as Valve's Robin Walker recently indicated they think a mod to play the game on a flat monitor is inevitable.

Same. The experience was slower paced than, say, Doom: Eternal, but the first gunfight against Combine soldiers was pretty stunning. I was instinctively taking cover by physically crouching down. Since I couldn't see the enemy from my crouched state, I listened for their fire to pause for a reload. Then, I'd quickly stand, lean out, and fire at them until I expended the magazine, which in turn prompted quick, instinctive returns to cover to go through the multi-step reloading process (eject the empty magazine, reach back into my rucksack to grab a fresh magazine, slamming it into the pistol, then chambering a round with the slide). Like you say, the whole thing felt like I was actually in a gunfight rather than playing a shooter.

Been taking my time with the HL:A, just found the flashlight tonight. Shining light with one hand, aiming a gun with the other...and every reload requires the flashlight hand. Monsters gaining ground in the darkness. Desperately searching for them again in the darkness with a fresh clip. There's just no way this experience translates to m+kb.

I can't imagine it would be much fun to play this way. The game works because the gameplay mechanics and level design are perfectly integrated with the capabilities and strengths of VR. Take away the VR component and the bastardized remains are going to be pretty broken from a fundamental "is this enjoyable" perspective.

The best Playstation 1 emulator is "ePSXe", almost 100% of the games perfectly emulated.
Like all PC emulators it has
100% today´s 3D accelerated graphics,
save anywhere with 10 savestates (function keys, F1,F2,F3)
choose mouse and keyboard or controller

Add "pec" from pec.duttke.de for a mini program that adds an abundance of cheats for almost all PS1 games.

Einhander,
etc.

Best PS2 emulator: PCSX2,
Drakan: The Ancients' Gates,

Ummm PSX had great emulation on the PC. Bleem didn't have the best compatibility, but it allowed you to change graphics settings. CVGS on the other hand ran pretty much exactly like a PSX. As I never owned a PSX, that was how I played most PS1 games... including like a half dozen runs through Symphony of the Night.

In fact VGS was so popular that Sony sued the creators and when the lawsuit ended in favor of VGS they bought the creators and discontinued VGS.
