Out of the Blue

Happy birthday Neutronbeam, who has given us all the gift of interesting link submissions for many years now. I know he's expressed an interest in one of the new Aston Martins if anyone's looking for a gift idea. He also mentioned his preferred colors, but I imagine he'd take any of them.

The reaction to yesterday's new links format was mixed. Most found them more readable, especially on mobile. But many of you expressed concern about all that extra spacing. Frans pointed out some changes I could make to the style that may give us the best of both worlds. So here's take two on a reformatted list link. Again feedback is encouraged.

New Link Format, Take II
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.

It looks OK to me but the further indent relative to other bullet points on the page makes it seem...odd for some reason. Perhaps its just me though. Definitely better than yesterday regardless.

Today is definitely better than yesterday. That said, I had no problem with the original layout.

Whatever is easiest for you Blue. I'll adapt.

To be clear, neither is that much easier or harder on my end. I am more interested in what works best across both desktop and mobile views.

Okay, today strikes a nice balance between the original layout, and yesterday. Looks good on both mobile and desktop.

Take II is a definite improvement over Take I.
Original version was good too but this is probably easier to look at. I think the bullets negate the need for titles to have : at the end

Just went to the dollar store to grab a can of compressed air to blow out my PC - and man did it ever need it. And now they keep it locked away at the cash because apparently people steal the shit out of it to get high on it or something. Fucking people.

Finished Witcher 3 main campaign and Heart of Stone yesterday and have just gone on to Toussaint. Man, I forgot how beautiful it is there. That's where I need to retire. CDPR deffo needs to make some more Witcher goodness.

I hate the new layout. It in no way fits with the flow of the rest of the page.

The old layout was perfectly fine on my phone.

It could be shrunk even more if you put the first link on the same line as the heading. example

Finally got around to viewing it on a desktop. Version one on desktop was definitely eek barba durkle.

Well.... previously you had a blank line before the link list and after the link list. You removed both. I think you should reinsert the blank line after the links. (I am not trying to be funny... )

I find the subheading/list style less readable on both PC and tablet.

Is there a reason the bullets couldn’t just be inserted into the old two column layout? Perhaps adding a bit more spacing between sections for readability. The bullets could also be styled as little blue arrows or something.

A few months back my CPU fan started dying and got very loud. I ordered a new one on Amazon, but as it turns out, I also needed a new bracket, which required me to buy a new cooler, which also came with a fan. Since I live two people in a one bedroom in NYC, there isn't much room to hold on to things you don't really need, so I just threw the extra, unused, OEM fan out.

Well, now another fan is dying. Either it's gotten unbalanced or the bearings are going, but it's loud. So I really wish I had that extra fan I tossed. Worse, Amazon is saying it can't get a 20mm fan to me until late April.

Guess these fans have a near perfect 5 year shelf life with my usage.
What about Newegg?

Yep, still prefer the old layout and really dislike the bullets. It's jarring.

Why do British roads have those zigzag lines on them?
