Get World War Z, Tormentor x Punisher, and Figment for Free

In addition to this week's promised free releases of Figment and Tormentor x Punisher, the Epic Games Store is also now offering World War Z as a surprise freebie. The World War Z giveaway as Focus Home Interactive announces the game's promised cross-play support is now live between the Windows and Xbox One versions. Word is: "In addition, players on both platforms will now be able to play together in PvE missions and the wave-based Horde Mode Z (applies only to matchmaking on official game servers). PlayStation®4 crossplay is expected to arrive in the future." All three are yours to keep if you claim your copies between now and next Thursday when they will offer a pair of new giveaways, Gone Home and Hob. Here are details on this week's three free games:
World War Z is a heart-pounding four-player cooperative third-person shooter featuring massive swarms of zombies that recklessly rush their living prey.
Focused on fast-paced gameplay -- and inspired by the incredibly popular Paramount Pictures property of the same name -- World War Z explores new storylines and characters from around the world in tense, overwhelming, gruesomely exciting missions crafted specifically for modern PCs.

A musical action-adventure set in the recesses of the human mind...
Welcome to the world of Figment. A strange and surreal world; a place filled with our deepest thoughts, urges and memories, populated by the many voices we hear in our heads.

Everything in Tormentor❌Punisher can be killed in one hit, including bosses and yourself. Bosses change the shape of the arena, conjuring rooms and traps to make it more hellish and brutal. Demons adjust to your play style and punish you accordingly. Explore and discover new ways of killing enemies to gain cool upgrades. Reload your machine gun by firing your shotgun. Yeah, you read that right.

Seems like a decent spiritual successor to Left4Dead.

Can't wait to see what this genre looks like for the next generation when instead of 100 zombies on-screen at a time they can do 10,000.

Fun always trumps realism, but at the same time I think I would really want to know just where are all these zombie people coming from? I mean sure, you can suspend realism, and sometimes you do find yourself in a city, but most zombie games take place in ruraltown, USA population 4-5k, tops.

Ever consider that those settings are sometimes chosen because of such production limitations?

Anyway, yeah, played a few levels tonight and it's pretty fun. It's the gameplay loop of L4D with the playstyle customization of Killing Floor (plus leveling up proficiency in each individual weapon), and the spectacle of the WWZ license sprinkled on top. Not a bad choice at all for some co-op shooter action.

Yeah, but how would you kill that many? L4D already pushed that ability to the limit.

Well.. They're already pushing towards that. Watch some of the vids for 'The Black Masses'. Ridiculous amounts of corpses walking around.

Played a little bit of WWZ with the bots.. not overly impressed. It's definitely in the vein of L4D/L4D2, but the AI for your teammates seems to be mostly deaf. Always demolishing stuff in front of it, constantly getting jumped on by stuff screaming/sprinting at it from behind.

Some pretty interesting set pieces with a LOT of zombies on screen at once, but apparently there are only 4 maps!?

Not sure if the game is bugged, but it wouldn't let me change my cosmetic appearance, even though it seems like I have the base setup for multiple characters available.

Also, seems pretty grindy, 150points for winning a map(30-40mins), ONE gun takes 150 points to upgrade or unlock, at minimum. Maybe there are more points awarded at higher difficulty/online, etc.

Probably a lot more fun with some people you know, but the team AI was a little tiring. Uninstalled for now.

Of course we're almost living in WWZ now, so, the irony is pretty tasty.

Given that this was added last minute, I'm sure that it was obtained due to the current situation that the world finds itself in.

How do they compare to L4D & L4D2?

Especially each with their own AI.

I just keep thinking back to Crysis when those AI korean soldiers would track you halfway across the map. That's on our horizon again, so psyched.

I've had TormentorXPunisher for awhile now on Steam; in some ways it's the refined, enriched essence of the perfect action game. Rage inducing, difficult, with responsive controls and good gameplay, and you can get your fill in like 20-30minutes.

I just installed World War Z, it has a pretty invasive EULA, with machine/IP specific data collection mentioned, just a fair warning. Not sure if I'll play it with that aggressive of a data collection method.

Of course we're almost living in WWZ now, so, the irony is pretty tasty.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. If that's the case it's a hard pass. Not that I really saw much point where the object of the game is to stand around mowing down hordes of zombies. That looks fun for all of 3 seconds.
