DOOM Eternal Released

DOOM Eternal is now available for PC and consoles, offering the latest installment in id Software's seminal first-person shooter series that began way back in 1993. The Windows edition is played through Steam, and you pick up your copy through Steam, or for 10% less (as of this writing) through Green Man Gaming. This is also available as a physical release, and retailers are listed on Bethesda.net. Paradoxically, this seems to be the least expensive option, as both Amazon and Walmart offer the USD$59.99 game for under $50.00, while there is also a pricier deluxe version for those who feel like splurging. Business aside, the previously released Official Launch Trailer offers a look at gameplay, and the Steam Listing has the following description:
Hell’s armies have invaded Earth. Become the Slayer in an epic single-player campaign to conquer demons across dimensions and stop the final destruction of humanity.

The Only Thing they Fear... Is You.
Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power in DOOM Eternal - the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat.

Slayer Threat Level At Maximum
Armed with a shoulder-mounted flamethrower, retractable wrist-mounted blade, upgraded guns and mods, and abilities, you're faster, stronger, and more versatile than ever.

Unholy Trinity
Take what you need from your enemies: Glory kill for extra health, incinerate for armor, and chainsaw demons to stock up on ammo to become the ultimate demon-slayer.

Enter Battlemode
A new 2 versus 1 multiplayer experience. A fully-armed DOOM Slayer faces off against two player-controlled demons, fighting it out in a best-of-five round match of intense first-person combat.

Agree with to many systems. I didn't want a God of War version of Doom. I miss the chaotic flow and weapon based stuff in 2016. To many things to remember and very limited ammo. Doom 2016 was a power fantasy. Doom Eternal is stressful! Will have to play more to see if that stress is rewarded. The story is a bit of a yawn so far to.

Too many systems and subsystems. Weapon points and crystals to collect. Controls and menus are confusing ,the shotgun sounds like complete ass. Seriously wtf is up with the pow pow of the shotgun?

Updated my Nvidia drivers, been running 1080p/144fps locked on high/max settings. It's smooth and responsive it's awesome for such good graphics. id Tech 7 with Vulkan is mind-boggling.

Of course, this comes the weekend that I have at least 6 or 10 hours of work to do.

Somehow, the entire world shuts down, and I still have to work the weekend.

Refunded it. I can't believe they fucked up the sign-in so badly. After several attempts at using the mobile-looking sign in (no pasting in to the password field, so fuck off with those password managers), the game kept running behind all the other windows. I couldn't bring it to front. I finally got it working and it just looked like shit. The UI makes my eyes bleed. The weapon takes up 30% of the screen. And it just looked bad. I got out of the game and checked to see if I was running the right Doom. What a complete and total let down.

I may try again when it's on sale. I was so frustrated with the login system that I had no fucks left to give for the other problems.

Exactly wrong! It helps by making the time pass faster!

Haven’t left the house except for the occasional trip to the groceries the last two weeks and looks like it’s not going to end anytime soon. This isn’t helping... :-)
