Pretty stoked that consoles have finally caught up to PCs.

The caliber of games coming out in 2022 an onward (ones actually developed specifically for this console's strengths) are going to be a paradigm shift. I'm glad that pushing resolutions is the least interesting part of this new gen.

Gone are the days of going into a room, having 8 AI spawn, killing them, then another 8 spawn. Now you'll be able to fight through endless waves of 80, 800, or 8000 AI in-game at the same time.

I fucking wish that the Dynasty Warriors guys weren't continually remaking the same old shit for the last 20 years without building up their engine, that franchise could do sooo much with this power.

They'll still be limited. Like having to be played with a controller.

Didn't know about HL. Forgot about Portal.

Along with HL2 and the Episodes, TF2, CS, CS:GO, L4D and L4D2. Often just Xbox, though.

If you wanted a PC like that, you would need to pay close to $1.5k.

Pretty sure it will be less than that.
CPU 8x Cores @ 3.8 GHz (3.6 GHz w/ SMT) Custom Zen 2 CPU - $300
GPU 12 TFLOPS, 52 CUs @ 1.825 GHz Custom RDNA 2 GPU - $400
Memory 16 GB GDDR6 - Not for sale yet, but let's estimate $150
Internal Storage 1 TB Custom NVME SSD - $100
Optical Drive 4K UHD Blu-Ray Drive - $100
Motherboard - $100
Case $50 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Total: $1200

These are retail prices, so MS should expect steep discounts for buying in millions of units. Cost of parts is probably $800 total per XBox unit. I wouldn't be surprised if the price was $700-800 MSRP.

Wait for Alyx. If anything is going to kickstart VR, its that game.

Has Valve ever ported a game to console?
Half Life for PlayStation 2
Portal 1&2 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Didn't know about HL. Forgot about Portal.
see, they do it all the time. Wink

Driest humor of 2020 so far! Definitely take that on virtual tour, like yesterday.

In any case, I love it. Because it means games are going to look better and PC hardware over 8 cores is going to be utilized much better from now on. Not to mention 32 GB RAM will be the new standard now and new graphics cards will need much more power and VRAM as well.
Im looking at you, Nvidia.

A lot of hype about this Xbox hardware... It does seem impressive, but I'm still not seeing a price anywhere. Surely they've decided it by now, if the specs are final?

The new Microsoft Flight Sinukator is going to be a launch title for the new Xbox, right? I dont think it's been explicitly stated, but it had to be the case.
