Out of the Blue

After considerable procrastination I finally completed my Windows 10 "upgrade" yesterday. You may recall I had a second imperative beyond the end-of-life for Windows 7, as my Windows 7 refused to install a bunch of updates over the past several months. This was probably the reason I couldn't perform an inline upgrade to Win10, but that glitch was probably a blessing in disguise, as many of you pointed out a clean install was far preferable anyway. So I installed a new SSD yesterday and set to it. The hardest part of the whole process was convincing the installer to use the new SSD, as it had various complaints about its formatting and partitioning. But some research online showed me the hoops I needed to jump through in order to get this to work. After that it was quite easy. And between my browser syncing itself, being able to copy the data from my email, and simply pointing reinstalls of programs like Steam and Battle.net towards my existing libraries, I got things where I needed them to be in surprisingly short order.

This Netflix documentary was made in 2019 and dropped at the beginning of February. Although it's about influenza and not corona, it's very prescient in predicting the lack of preparedness of the US and the world. Also, we're lucky that it was a virus with a low mortality that went viral, and not the bird flu with its 60% mortality rate. Then we'd be well and truly fucked.

KX, you should check out The Wire. Simply the greatest crime drama ever made. All four seasons are on Amazon Prime streaming right now. The series launched a dozen careers including Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan, Dominic West, and others.

I just might if it is available on Vidangel! Not a fan of raw-format shows.

Well, this show especially would lose a lot. Like an entire scene that consists of two characters carrying on an entire conversation using one single four letter word (NSFW, obviously).

If there was a pandemic which killed 60% of the population, it might be better to be part of the 60%... afterwards is going to be ugly.

Initially? Sure. After that things would be much better for those who remain. Cheap real estate, no shortage of job opportunities, etc. Thanos was right.

I wish you all had my faith in the future of humanity. It is less pessimistic. Most of you already know what it is, as I've shared it in detail. But I will leave this positive thought, "And no resident will say: "I am sick.'" (Isaiah 33:24). It is one of the many positive things promised by God's Kingdom.

Eventually, sure. We'll hopefully reach that Star Trek utopia at some point. Unless we render our planet uninhabitable and extinct ourselves first.

I've noticed an increase in websites selling reasonably priced items like toilet paper. I made a blind purchase from a Chinese seller located in Xi'an, which is a city in Shaanxi province, next door to Henan province where Coronavirus originated. Once I realized that I promptly canceled the order. It's a good idea to look at WHO is selling the item.

Out of curiosity, why did you cancel? Were you worried that it would be contaminated with COVID19? Or were you concerned that the TP would somehow hack your network?

You're right; I'm sorry. It has been a stressful few days. Do watch The Wire, though.

Thank you, and I completely understand.

I wanted to share this with you all. VidAngel is offering its services free for two-weeks for families stuck at home. I use this service often. It was how I was able to watch a PG-13 version of GOT. It makes TV shows family-friendly that would not otherwise be. You don't have to worry about what you and or your children watch with it enabled.
Out of curiosity, were you more concerned with decapitations or bewbs?

Cutter, things aren´t so incredibly simple !

The world is like a castle of cards.

Drinkable water, food, fertilizer, pesticides, oil, energy, health carers, medicaments, security, the economy, trade, trucks, engines, and a thousand more, all depend on prepared -that alone may take years- and organized people to function.

Take away sufficient, and it all will go to hell *fast*

With a diminished civilization, what real estate demand with a surplus of houses, even today in Japan vacant houses are mandatorily demolished, what jobs with a dispersed or nearly lawless population, rather famines and dying of infected cavities.

Full or even partial recovery to actual standards, could take decades or centuries, or not happen *at all*.

I hope you were sarcastic or playful, and not so cold-hearted, you worry me, man.

Goggle it for respected sources.

Best of wishes

Brazil nuts have abundant selenium. So much in fact, that you'll poison yourself if you have more than four (4) nuts per day. Just one nut will provide the daily RDA.

House had a whole episode where they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the guy, until the end when he revealed he'd just been to Brazil. Turns out he'd eaten an entire bowl of Brazil nuts.
