Out of the Blue

Well, we sprang ahead in the wee hours today in these parts with the start of Daylight Saving Time. I go on a rant about this twice every year, so many of you probably don't need to hear my objections to this process again. Fact is, I don't know if I've ever heard anyone come out in favor of jacking the clocks back and forth twice a year. It appears the sentiment is gaining momentum to actually change it, so we'll see if it's actually possible to alter a policy it seems like 100% of us are against.

Also, today is International Women's Day. Much like the jokes about how Black History Month/African-American History Month is scheduled during the shortest month of the year, it's unfortunate that International Women's Day is being celebrated on a day with only 23 hours.

It'd be really nice if we were to switch to permanent daylight saving time. I really hate it getting dark before I get out of work in the winter. And if anything, it being dark on the way back from work is more dangerous than it possibly being dark on the way to work, since I'm far more tired at the end of the day.

Arizona is a bit of a special case, due to summer temperatures rather than winter daylight being the driving factor. Let them keep their year-round standard time.
