As someone with a relative in the honey business, I could tell you stories that would make your hair stand on end. Do your homework when you buy honey.

Tell us.
Homework is not easy with honey. There's not much to really look into. I tend to buy local, but even then, you have little proof you're actually buying local. For all I know, the guy is buying from Trader Joe's and repackaging, or blending. I know a lot of honey is faked, but like evoo, it's hard to tell as a consumer.

just curious, how is the support the site going ?

I'd say overall it's going well.

does it cover the lack of advert/amazon income ?

It definitely covers the lost income from Amazon and then some. It does not completely account for the loss of advertising income yet.

does it make the future more secure ?

Ad income is fluctuating lately, so it is not easy to say exactly where we stand long term. But there's no question that reader support has improved the situation greatly.

I understand not everyone is in a position to help. But many of you have been very generous, and I am very grateful to you all. Thank you.

Yeah, I dunno about that KitH revival. I'm always of the opinion 'you can never go home again' with these sorts of things. Guess we'll see.

My honey is from a small producer. It's raw/unpasteurized. I seriously doubt it's adulterated. Surprise to see Walmart's honey passed the test.

Big Oil also kept how they were exacerbating climate change a secret for decades too.

Cool photos. Brings back my childhood memories of the 70s with a pristine rush.

That was a fascinating read. Thanks for finding it jdreyer!

One of my long held dreams is to have a home but a sprawling, well engineered and architected bunker beneath. A place that used geothermal cooling to keep my mini datacenter cool and my ammo dry. A place for long term storage and shelter. A surveillance area for monitoring the grounds via discrete cameras and microphones complete with silent alarms.

Maybe beneath that custom home Mrs. B and I are going to build when I retire.
