Game Developers Conference Postponed Due to Coronavirus

An Important GDC 2020 Update announces that the 2020 Game Developers Conference is being postponed due to concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus. Word is they plan to reschedule the trade show to an unspecified time this summer:
After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March.

Having spent the past year preparing for the show with our advisory boards, speakers, exhibitors, and event partners, we're genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time.

We want to thank all our customers and partners for their support, open discussions and encouragement. As everyone has been reminding us, great things happen when the community comes together and connects at GDC. For this reason, we fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.

Lots of misinformation in this thread:

New England Journal of Medicine

"...On the basis of a case definition requiring a diagnosis of pneumonia, the currently reported case fatality rate is approximately 2%.4 In another article in the Journal, Guan et al.5 report mortality of 1.4% among 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19; these patients had a wide spectrum of disease severity. If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively."

Also, just FYI, the President did not call the virus a hoax--he called the attempt to politicize the virus by the usual suspect (D)s a hoax. It was Cher, among others, who tweeted that the President said the virus itself was a hoax. Absolutely false. Cher has a very hard time with her 6th-grade education...;) But Cher is not alone in the stupid box--many so-called "celebrities" reside there as well. Anthony Hopkins, when asked about his politics said, "I don't make political statements--because most actors look like idiots when they do!" I agree completely...;) Hopkins is one of the more intelligent, imo.

It is well known that I don't make mistakes--so, if you should happen across an error in something I have written, you can be confident in the fact that *I* did not write it.
