Specifically there are 7 games in development: Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dark Alliance are the two that have already been announced, but according to Hasbro, we should be seeing at least one new D&D video game every year from now until 2025. And while there was no mention of the newly opened Archetype Entertainment, the WotC owned game studio working on its own sci-fi project, it was revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled for Early Access later this year, so players will be stepping into the world of mind flayers and Minsc a lot sooner than you might have thought.
As far as the other games, neither Hasbro nor WotC have made any reveals, but we can look at M:tG’s approach to get a clue for what their roadmap might be like. Points like “new categories for new audiences” shows that Hasbro is looking to scoop up as much of a newer crowd as they can. What kinds of games might introduce new players to D&D? Some sort of mobile game for sure, but beyond that it’s anyone’s guess.

Do note that the EA for Original Sin 2 was just the first act. It was more about getting major bugs and balance changes in, improving the UI, and giving feedback. For those that haven't played (or finished) OS2, that's about 15% of the game. Of course it varies from player to player. Completionists will spend more time there of course.
So I'd expect something similar for BG3.

I just want a goddamned MMO set in Teh Forgotten Realms. Wandering around all over Faerun would be the effing bomb.
Neverwinter?

What could possibly go wrong?

Why would I do EA for a single played narrative game?
This.
Few of us on bluesnews are the target EA market for a game like this, but this is just the continued outsourcing of beta testing to the games community.
Did D:OS or D:OS2 have some sort of public beta or EA phase? I can't remember.
I usually avoid EA/beta for pretty much any game, let alone RPGs, but some people seem to love getting in early.

I've tried twice to get into Original Sin 2 but the game is mind bogglingly, stupidly hard. As a veteran of the original game I figure I had a pretty good idea of how to handle combat and party builds, but almost every fucking battle was like hitting my head against a brick wall.
