Not perfect, just half fucking decent.
Unfortunately, we don't have that either.

Well, they are a small company, so for them to do R&D, engineering, and manufacturing of a privacy focused phone isn't cheap.

The first wave has already shipped, but doesn't have all the features fully implemented, and the is a waiting list, with several other shipping waves in between.

That's what I meant by the "tech will be mature" by the time I need to replace my phone. I still have a good 2-3 years left on my current iPhone and I only replace my phone every 5 years or so.

That said, Pinephone (a base linux phone.. can run UBports (Ubuntu Touch), Plasma Mobile, Phosh, SailfishOS, LuneOS, etc.) is a cheaper alternative. I may go that route, when the consumer version is available. (Current Braveheart that just shipped is a Developer phone)

I don't load apps (usually being more spyware) on my phone other than ad blockers and Multi-factor Authentication apps for work. Fortunately, the Librem 5 has the blockers buit-in, and MFA authentication can be done via text instead of an app.

Cool, bookmarked. As Redeye indicated I'd like to see a cheaper model, but I'm guessing that will happen eventually...

That’s a lot of hardware, too bad they don’t have a lesser specced version for under $400.

Because some of us rather be spied on by "this corp" than Google due to how the company makes it's money (which isn't by slurping your info). Fsck Google.

Tons of people make fun of CA, but they have some qualities, this is BS from Apple from day 1, to think they can take this kind of time and not be responsible to pay, is ridiculous and it is shitty lots of states would be ok with this practice.

In a perfect world, yeah. There is no perfect world. Either they already had significant losses, or they would if they didn't search. Unfortunately, there are plenty of dishonest people out there. It is a no win situation, but paying them when it can take up to 45 minutes is certainly something they should have done without someone having to sue them over it.

When I worked for Fed Ex they did a search as you left the gate. It took less then 1 min. But this is probably because they had people doing it 24/7 not tacking on more work for managers.
Yeah, Apple is complicating it significantly by checking serial numbers on Apple branded goods. So I guess the real lesson here is, you don't want to work for Apple if you use Apple products?

Obviously, they should hire me! (they wouldn't come close to paying me enough)

The back pay payout is going to be significant. Maybe even enough to buy apple earbuds.

Mhh, I know at least 3 that do this in Germany too, randomized bag searches, after you exit the building at the gate.

Standard at most Amazon/FedEx facilities.
