Windows 10 cold boots in less than 10 on a SSD

What I'm saying is not related to that article but the booting time of Windows 10 is fake. They are trying to deceive you. It does boot fast, yes, but the time until the system is usable is much longer.
I installed Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with KDE on a machine and Ubuntu reaches a state where I can actually do something with that system a lot quicker than Windows 10 does, despite taking a bit longer to boot.

The question is what Ubuntu doesn't load in that time. The answer being, tons of additional ease-of-use services you might not even know you have and maybe you don't need them. But slower or faster boot is an pretty dang irrelevant metric... ^^

Is it just me... or is that absolutely terrible advice for buying a soundcard? $300, janky specs (123dB SNR - my best RME at work quotes 118dBa). 32bit Audio... for streaming? For something small but good, maybe an Audient iD14?

Meh - I think I'm just grumpy and tired. :).
I've never heard of Audient before, but the iD14 looks quite nice. Personally, if I were to recommend something for streaming, I'd suggest either the Behringer UM2 ($50) or the Focusrite Scarlet ($110). However, if I were to recommend something in that form factor for professional audio work (mixing, voice acting, stuff where audio quality isn't lost by way of stream compression or decompression), I'd suggest the Motu M4 ($220).

I knew it! You run the Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber distros don't you!

If this "Win 12 Lite" was real, it would explode. The idea is exactly what I want, and maybe someday it will exist..

Ha! Never a truer word spoken :). Actually, I'd totally forgotten about Sound Blasters.. That's a lot of bang per buck for a gaming system!
I could hear electronic noise when I moved my mouse using onboard sound, switched to an Asus Xonar DG 5.1 with built in headphone amp ˜$30 and it fixed it.
Decent enough mb, Asrock Extreme 6, it did not advertise isolated sound. But who knows, the cheap wired mouse I was using at the time could have been poisoning the usb.

A good experienced human blood taker gets it right 99% of the time, but the insurance company/multinationals that own health care wants to screw labor at every turn, so 85% is just fine to them.

Yeah I can't really disagree, this is not a sound-card, it's a professional audio production device. If you want to game Soundblaster Z is still great has tons of features, 24bit 96khz 116 dBdb SNR and costs more than 200$ less...
