Dan Houser Leaving Rockstar Games

The Washington Post reports that Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser is leaving the company next month. Dan served as Vice President of Creativity, and his writing credits include Bully, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and most of the Grand Theft Auto series. Here's word on his departure:
Dan Houser, co-founder of the studio that gave the world Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, will be leaving Rockstar Games by spring this year.

His last day is March 11, according to a form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed Tuesday. The form is hosted on Take-Two Interactive’s investor relations site. Houser, who founded Rockstar with his brother Sam, is currently vice president of creative at the New York City-based company.

“After an extended break beginning in the spring of 2019, Dan Houser, Vice President, Creative at Rockstar Games, will be leaving the company,” reads a short statement in the SEC filing. “We are extremely grateful for his contributions.”

A Rockstar spokeperson confirmed the news and declined to comment.

I really enjoyed the writing in Bully as well. That game is underrated IMO.

As much as I hate the lazy writing in the gta series, rdr and Max Payne 3 were great.

I watched the history of GTA (I think it was linked here but I am not sure) and so I now have a different perspective on this than I would have before. It's a shame. I hope they don't ruin the next GTA.

It is always a big change when a founding member leaves a company. I wish Dan Houser and Rockstar all the best.

Wonder if rockstar will hire real writers now. In one series they killed off the main protagonist, another they only write for villain roles and completely breaking lore on a popular franchise they purchased.
Great way to piss of long time, new and potential fans. Slap
