I actually did watch her make lasagna... but only because someone linked it in response to this great video:

That's genius right there. That guy's rhymes are amazing.

And I highly doubt I'd find Paris Hilton's cooking show worth my time, but I probably won't be confirming that. I shouldn't know who Paris Hilton is.

I mean, PDPs target audience is largely middle school kids. That's why him making jokes about being a Nazi was a big deal (and, despite popular belief, the WSJ never called him a Nazi.)
He's basically set to appeal to the age group that liked Power Rangers, something I was too old for and never understood.

As for Paris, the cooking show is basically trying to figure out if she's in on the joke or not. I can't tell. She's beyond stupid, but not quite stupid enough for it to feel intentional. She also seems too vain to make herself look stupid. But dear god, her making a lasagna is lunacy.

I'm glad to say I didn't know this existed prior to your post. I'm sorry I do know now.
Anyway, I've defended influencers here before, similar to how you did. People under 25 hardly watch TV or movies. They do Instagram and YouTube. That's their entertainment. A bunch of 50 year old men whining here won't change that, as you point out. Meanwhile, some here openly admit to watching Let's Play videos, something I really don't get, as much as gaming. What do they think those are? How would they describe the people making a living doing them?
This is semi-valid. I watch Let's Play videos occasionally. For me it is usually dual entertainment. First, I like the game they are playing and I'm looking for ideas (watching Minecraft or Factorio videos for instance). Second, their commentary is of interest to me. Now sometimes they are simply commenting on what they are doing, explaining the method or thought process. But some of them I watch just for the random commentary. An example of this is I occasionally (haven't recently) watch a Minecraft Let's Player who goes by the pseudonym of Guude / GuudeBoulderfist. Usually I watch his videos with a second YouTuber and their commentary runs the gamut from gaming subjects, politics, personal relationships, stupid relatives/neighbors, issues at work (the other guy is a Nurse/Fireman). *shrug* There are others I watch because they do things I never could/would. Like Zisteau, I've seen him build things in Minecraft and Factorio which clearly took SO MANY FREAKING HOURS -- it is simply amazing.

And yeah, to some extent it is a matter of taste. But I've never seen a PewDiePie video which I thought was worth my time or that I thought should be worth anyone's time. And I highly doubt I'd find Paris Hilton's cooking show worth my time, but I probably won't be confirming that. I shouldn't know who Paris Hilton is.

Actually, they do watch TV and movies, they just dual screen Instagram and YouTube at the same time.

Yes it is. These idiots think this is valid yet every business article I've seen on the subject says it isn't. In short, it's another Dot Com/Cloud/Crytpo/Fill in the blank boom. Once businesses and investors realize they've been pissing away their money on these clowns it'll end, same as any other boom. I can't even count the articles I've seen in the last several years with businesses sick and tired of these clowns begging them for free shit - all over the world - claiming they're "influencers". It's a pestilence that needs to die.

That would be annoying, if that is what happened. I made a post. You made a post. I pointed out a comparison I disagreed with in your post. You got condescending. Beamer made another comment about old guys whining.

That is basically the same template for every discussion lately. If someone is making a claim you don't like, Refute it, as you say. Condescension or derision are not "refuting".

Your post had little to do with my point, so I restated my point in a way that would hopefully make it clearer.

And here's you being not testy:

Matter of fact or not, you seemed awfully intent on being right, to the point of saying I was spreading lies and "should know better". Those are igniter words used by people who want to start an argument. So naturally I made the remark saying it seemed you just wanted to argue. Not sure how this has any relevancy to this discussion at all, honestly.

I have a really good memory for things I've read. I knew we had talked about this before.
