Knights of the Old Republic Remake/Sequel Rumor

A post on Cinelinx says that EA may be working on a remake of Knights of the Old Republic, the highly regarded Star Wars RPG. This is not the first such rumor over the years, but GamesRadar+ notes that this site accurately predicted the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series (which is now reportedly on hold) before it was announced, adding credence to the report. Here's what they say:
Unexpectedly, I heard an update from two independent sources (different from ones who’d given me the prior information, and one of whom helped me confirm our Ewan McGregor scoop from last year). This came out of the blue, and caught me by surprise, which is the main reason I’m updating now.

According to one, the previously mentioned Knights of the Old Republic remake is back in development. My other source added to that saying they felt it wasn’t so much a remake, but a “sequel” of sorts. It would be a Knights of the Old Republic project that would integrate elements from the first two games in order to bring certain things into the current Star Wars canon. Not necessarily a remake, so much as a re-imagining.

If this happens Disney will somehow figure out how to fuck it up. No cherished Star Wars memory can go untainted by the house of that fucking mouse.

- Blaster pistols WILL be removed and replaced with radios.
- Bad guys WILL always shoot first.
- Scary looking protagonists WILL be swapped out for small furry cute ones.

I think you forgot they need to add a BR mode.

There will also only be FEMALE knights (Kate Kennedy: "The Force is female!") and they will be invincible right from the start (the "Rey" role model). Also expect the story to go nowhere and a long dead enemy as the main bad guy behind it in the end.
And don't forget: souls-like fighting and Metroidvania levels!

Remake, re-imagining, reboot, soft reboot, I don't care what you call it. You're gonna run around to all the usual name-dropped planets solving hopefully new puzzles.

I don't care if they add non-Jedi class advancement, just don't force me to do it by denying Jedi stuff until level 10, or make me fight teras kai no force powers in a few fights because of some misguided attempt to make a gameplay variation "experience".

If I wanna fight without force powers, I can go play, I dunno, every other game ever made.

Disney got out of the making video games business seven years ago after they bought LucasFilm. They didn't want to deal with it and gave the Star Wars license to EA after closing down LucasArts. I'm sure Disney has some say on the final product, but they leave most of the details and decision making to EA. Case in point: Jedi Fallen Order. JFO would not be possible if Disney were involved in the way that you're implying. If you haven't played JFO, then you're clueless.

I actually see the logic here.
Take the original 2 games, *remake* them for more modern machines, and get in your target audience's consciousness while establishing some new canon material. Proceed by making either a new game afterwards.

Honestly, I see that kind of ramping up as being a much better strategy then trying to reinvent the wheel. There is a tremendous amount of lore and universe that is already existing thanks to the MMO and previous 2 games.

There is no reason to remake/reboot KOTOR. It should be a sequel. Kotor and Kotor2 are still perfectly playable and there is even the awesome TSLRCM to fix things.
Thanks a lot for the TSLRCM recommendation.
