Linux Battlefield V Bans

A thread on the Lutris Forums has some users reporting they're now banned from playing Battlefield V via DXVK (thanks Slashdot via Ant). Lutris is a game manager for Linux-based systems and DXVK is a Vulkan-based translation layer to allow Direct3D programs to run under Linux via Wine. This sounds similar to past incidents, including one from a couple of years ago where Blizzard was banning players using DXVK to play Overwatch using Linux. At that time the affected players were reinstating after Blizzard investigated. In this case, however, it seems Electronic Arts is not backing off. There's a post from almost two weeks ago that reports getting the following reply after an appeal:

Yeah, can't see any downsides to letting a flood of players playing on the very user-moddable Linux platform play alongside all the normal PC players.

I find it hilarious that being forced to use a locked down OS is considered "normal" to you.
At least now we get to control how often it phones home to the mother ship with two choices. Lots or More
