Linux Battlefield V Bans

A thread on the Lutris Forums has some users reporting they're now banned from playing Battlefield V via DXVK (thanks Slashdot via Ant). Lutris is a game manager for Linux-based systems and DXVK is a Vulkan-based translation layer to allow Direct3D programs to run under Linux via Wine. This sounds similar to past incidents, including one from a couple of years ago where Blizzard was banning players using DXVK to play Overwatch using Linux. At that time the affected players were reinstating after Blizzard investigated. In this case, however, it seems Electronic Arts is not backing off. There's a post from almost two weeks ago that reports getting the following reply after an appeal:
Hello,

Promote, encourage or take part in any activity involving hacking, cracking, phishing, taking advantage of exploits or cheats and/or distribution of counterfeit software and/or virtual currency/items

Yeah, can't see any downsides to letting a flood of players playing on the very user-moddable Linux platform play alongside all the normal PC players. Not like Battlefield has a history of people hacking their servers or anything...
