I don't think that's an accurate characterization. You make it sound like Epic stripped a feature out, when it's more of an extra feature that Steam provides beyond what was originally intended by the developer. Like when emulators provide features such as state saves or on-the-fly speed changes that weren't in the original games.

With a smile on my face and a stance that welcomes all assaults, I say that I fucking love EGS. Nothing but benefits so far. Just another "platform" like Steam, just with better holiday sales.

I'd expect the "best" to be on offer on 12/24 or 12/25 and not necessarily on the last day but it could be either one, of course.

Methinks the site is getting hammered, they must be using the same algorithm Steam uses for traffic prediction during high volume sales. ie... wait till server splodes before firing up the backup, rinse and repeat
